Chapter 2

(Taj)

______

“What just happened?” I wonder aloud.

“You even have to ask?” Alan says, grinning.

Roman’s arms are crossed over his chest as he smirks. Phil is looking at me while arching his eyebrows. Brock and Annabella have turned back to their show.

“Good luck, Taj,” Roman says before turning back and entering his room.

Phil gives me a mock salute before walking away as well. This leaves Alan, who is walking toward me with a mischievous grin on his face that usually annoys everyone.

“You and Petal ruined my announcement with your drama,” he pouts.

“What announcement?” I question even though my head is still spinning from what happened.

“Rachael and I got together,” Alan proclaims happily.

“Good for you man,” I say. I’m not surprised at all.

“Which means, now I can help you. And man, trust me, you really need my help,” he says.

I sigh. “What are you talking about, Alan?”

“I can help with your Petal problem. Honestly, I’m surprised no one else has offered. You guys are like a train wreck. But you don’t have to be.”

“We’ve never tried because Taj is stubborn and won’t listen, and Petal seems too smart to even need our advice,” Brock chimes in without looking at us.

“What the hell are you guys even talking about? I’m going back to my room,” I announce.

“Wait, chill. Aren’t you going to go after her? Seriously, T. How clueless could you be when it comes to girls?” Alan asks.

I roll my eyes.

“I know plenty when it comes to girls,” I say in my defense.

“Yeah like the naked girl in your apartment?” Alan asks, waggling his eyebrows.

I almost want to smack him. I advance on him to do just that but he raises his hand to stop me.

“Wait, you know Petal’s just jealous, right? I mean there’s no way you don’t know she likes you.”

I inwardly sigh. Petal and I are complicated. I’ve never met someone who confuses me as much as her. Alan throws an arm over my shoulder.

“Don’t worry, man. I’ve got you. I’ll help,” he proclaims.

I shake my head.

“Thanks Alan, but no thanks. I’ll figure it out on my own so stick your nose out of my business.”

I do decide to take his advice though. I go looking for Petal.

As I walk past Alan, I hear him mutter, “We’ve kept our noses out of your business for years and there’s been no progress.”

I glare at him as I walk out. There’s only one place Petal could have gone. I’m pretty sure she didn’t go to work in her current mood. I climb on my red motorcycle and zoom off. A few minutes later, I take off my helmet in the parking lot, switching off the ignition on my bike.
