Page 7 of All In With Love

“There’s no story. I like the guy but he’s not asking me out. What can I do about it?” I ask almost bitterly.

Jessie gives me a sympathetic look.

“Maybe he’s just scared? I know for sure Taj likes you. He might be worried you’ll reject him. It’s how I acted with Phil. I was so sure I wasn’t right for him but in the end, everything worked out. I’m sure Taj will come to his senses too,” she says assuredly.

I down another glass of tequila.

“Maybe.”

The conversation flows into the story of how Brock and Annabella got together. I’ve never really heard the full story but she tells us how she had to betray her father who was a mob boss. It’s then I realize that most of these women have gone through a lot, almost in equal measure. Lizzy was kidnapped by her fake boyfriend who wanted to steal her money. There’s Annabella’s story as well and Rachael who recently went through hell with a prostitution ring.

They’ve all been through so much and yet here they are, smiling, happy and in love. I feel a twinge of envy because they’re so strong and lucky. I wish I could be like them. I wish I could be in relationships like theirs.

On cue, Rachael’s phone rings.

“Hey, Mr. Multi-millionaire,” Rachael says upon answering. She has a dopey expression on her face and a glazed look in her eyes. Yep, she’s definitely already drunk.

She giggles.

“No, the girls said we couldn’t tell you where we are. Don’t ruin girls’ night,” she scolds.

We all realize she must be speaking to Alan.

“Multi-millionaire?” Jessie asks and I grin. Not a lot of people know how rich Alan is.

“Well, of course I miss you too. But I’m out with friends and there’s drinks here and fun,” Rachael states. She’s not slurring yet so I guess she isn’t too drunk.

She listens for a minute before sighing. Then she hangs up and turns to us.

“I think we should head over to the mansion.”

Jessie gasps. “Traitor.”

“I know, I know, it's supposed to be girls’ night. But Alan says the guys are bored and miserable without us. And he promised that there would be drinks. We could have a party there,” she says.

It’s pretty convincing and I’m not surprised to find the rest of the girls nodding.

“Let’s go,” Lizzy says.

I smile to myself, they’re all so in love it’s almost annoying to watch. Still I follow as we leave the club and head back to the mansion.

Alan was right though, the guys seem to have set up some sort of party. There’s music and drinks and snacks. It’s a nice set up. I sit on the couch alone while the girls cuddle up with their boyfriends. Taj is nowhere in sight.

I’m starting to feel like an extra wheel and I’m about to call Taj when he walks in through the front door. But he’s not alone. In his arms is a certain red head with green eyes. Aurora.

Fucking hell.
