‘Looks like we missed something,’ Jen shout-whispered into Chloe’s ear.
‘Just a bit. You hang here and I’ll see if I can find these magic stickers.’
‘You’re leaving me?’ Jen hissed.
‘It’s our job to mingle, ya single!’ Chloe said, putting on a funny accent as she shimmied into the crowd.
The guy to Jen’s right turned to face her, awkwardly looking at her chest as he looked for a name sticker. ‘Haven’t got my sticker yet,’ she offered with a half-smile.
‘Ah, no worries. I’m Greg.’ He held out a palm and Jen could see it glistening even in the dim light.
She gave it a limp shake as she sipped her wine. Tonight was going to be long.
