Why had she avoided this for so long?

Why had she worked so hard to keep other people out?

Because there was no one on earth who could do this but Holly.

As Jen tumbled over the edge, her inner walls clenching around Holly’s perfect fingers, she knew there was nowhere else she could be. Every single moment had led to right now. She’d never been so exposed, and yet she’d never felt so strong.

Her back arched, her thighs tightening as a second shockwave tore through her.

For the first time in a long time, Jen was alive.

‘Fuck, this is good pizza,’Jen said, her mouth full.

‘Pizza and sex. I might never leave,’ Holly replied, unable to chew for the smile taking over her face.

‘Maybe that’s the plan.’

They ate in silence for a few minutes, Jen finishing off her slice before speaking. ‘Just a shame I never got my flowers.’

Holly leaned over the pizza box on the sofa, wobbling on one hand as she kissed Jen. ‘Tomorrow, promise.’

‘I was just kidding, don’t worry.’

‘I wasn’t.’

Holly chucked a half-nibbled crust into the box before moving it out the way, onto the floor. She gave Jen’s knee a tap. ‘Come on, stretch these out, please.’

Jen did as she was told, a quizzical look on her face. It switched to a smile when Holly scooted closer, lacing her own legs over Jen’s.

Face to face, there was no way this smile was going anywhere.

Jen’s heart rippled as she watched Holly get comfy. She looked perfect in one of Jen’s T-shirts and her pyjama shorts. She could never wear either again; it wouldn’t be fair to do them such an injustice after experiencing Holly’s flawless form.

She cupped Holly’s calf with her hand, stroking her skin with her thumb. ‘You really had no clue I liked you?’

Holly shook her head, her hands settling on Jen’s hips.

‘I thought I’d blown it on Sunday,’ Jen replied. Was it possible to live on a sofa? She never wanted to leave this little bubble.

‘How come?’

‘Playing you that Wallis Bird song, being too touchy-feely, asking questions I probably shouldn’t have.’ Jen felt heat flush her cheeks.

Holly shifted closer, her hands not moving from Jen. Her face scrunched as she thought. ‘The song was a thing? I didn’t realise. It was track one on the album,’ she said with a shrug. ‘Touching – I just thought you were playful. And yeah, the question was a bit much, but I just thought you were weird.’ Holly chuckled, giving Jen’s sides a squeeze. ‘What about me? You really didn’t know?’

Jen’s turn to shake her head. ‘Not a clue.’

‘I thought my Lovefest playlist would give it away.’

‘Are they about me? I just thought they were love songs. To be fair, though, I wasn’t really listening to the lyrics. I was just looking at you.’

‘And thinking about omelettes.’

‘Mainly the omelettes, yes.’

Holly inched forward, closing the distance between their lips. ‘I think it’s time I gave you another memory on this sofa.’
