She smiles back at me and combs her fingers through my hair.
“I think I’m falling for you, too. For a year straight.”
My heart does a flip when I hear her say that.
With that, I give her another smile. I’m not sure how long this will last. This might not even change anything.
But it’s from the heart. Let’s just hope that’s all we need.
I limp my way out of her room after I detangle myself from her. I wish I could’ve stayed and done that all day with her, but I needed to heal myself. Going to see her was just supposed to be my attempt at escaping, but I didn’t expect to tell her I was falling for her.
No matter how true it is.
I make it to the first floor of the dorm when I see Nick staring at me, leaning against the wall with a smirk. This guy is a creep. He really stayed around for anhour? This is getting pathetic.
Rolling my eyes, I limp past him, but he doesn’t let up.
“This is getting embarrassing, Larson. The girl clearly doesn’t want you,” he taunts. I stop myself. I shouldn’t, but he’s pushing it.
I can’t help the smile forming on my face. “If she doesn’t want me, why was I just making out with her then?”
His face instantly turns into a glare. His nostrils flare in anger, and it’s kind of weird.
“You didn’t make out with her,” he says, but his voice wavers.
“Believe what you want, dude. If you’ll excuse me, I need to get iced up.”
I can’t believe I’m even competing with a teenage boy for a girl’s affections. I should be the easy choice, dammit. I don’t mean to sound arrogant, but this loser shouldn’t evenbein the picture anymore.
“Well, now you’re not the only one that’s been inside her, dude.” I immediately freeze. I grind my fists against my side as I turn back to him. The smug look on his face pisses me off. “Iknowyou fucked her. I don’t know what she sees in you, but you’re not the only one who’s tapped that now.”
I inch toward him. “You’re a fucking liar,” I growl. Leia wouldn’t let him touch her. There’s no way.
His smile grows wide. “The other day you saw her bolting away from me? She’d just come from my room. I fucked hergood, dude. So good she wouldn’t want to be with the likes of you anymore,” he brags.
My blood begins to boil again as I inch on him. I knew this guy had ulterior motives.
“You were friends with her this entire time just to get in her pants.” I’m not even asking at this point; I know for a fact that’s why.
“Come on, dude. She’s fucking hot,” he laughs.
This time, I lose it. Before I know it, I have him against the wall, hand around his neck. He’s fighting to get loose, but it’s a lost cause.
“I could fucking kill you right now, dude,” I growl. If he knew what was good for him, he’d shut the fuck up.
“She told me she loves me, too,” he grunts. He doesn’t give. As my hand gets tighter, his face gets redder.
“Hey! Put him down!” The dorm supervisor’s voice breaks into my world. I look between her and him and drop him to the ground. He’s a coughing mess on the floor, the color going back into his face.
“You’re just adding fuel to the fire, Larson. She does not wantyou.I’mthe best she’s ever had. Those sweet words left that sweet mouth the moment she woke up that morning.”
I shake my head at his words. None of this can be true.
“You’re a bastard. She’d never let you touch her.” Orwouldshe? I have no way of knowing. She was wearing basically nothing that morning. “She looked like she couldn’t get away from you fast enough.” I’m not fucking stupid.
“She was late for class, idiot,” he snaps. Or maybe I am. I gulp at that.
All girls do is disappoint you.
