For a second, we share a stare. He doesn’t relent. Shit. He’s not lying.

I should be bothered by the fact that he made a lewd comment, but him calling me ‘hun,’ ‘doll,’ and ‘dollface’ just does something.

My phone beeps, and I break out of my trance. I run to it and slide the screen up. Nick.
Nick:What happened? I didn’t see you last night
Me:Hangover.
Nick:Ooooh, you bad girl smh
“Ah, the boyfriend.” I jump at his voice as I look up.
“Not really ‘boyfriend.’ There’s not really a technical thing for what we are.”
His eyebrows raise. “Is he getting some?”
I flinch, glaring at him. “Areyougetting some?”Why did I ask that? I don’t want to know.
“No, that’s not really my life anymore.”
I look back to him, and he’s looking at me very intensely.
“I find that very hard to believe,” I manage to croak out. “You’re Jake Larson. I’m sure you get tons of ass.”
“I mean...yeah. But not the ass that I want anymore,” he chuckles. “Ever since the beach, there’s only one ass that I can think about.”
I gulp as he continues to hold my stare. “Well, it’s good to keep an imagination healthy.”
He chuckles and just looks at me again for the longest time.
“I like you, Leia. There’s so much I want to know about you.”
I gulp. “Bullshit,” I croak.
“Bullshit?”
“Major.”
He tilts his head. “Is that your tell?”
