He rolls his eyes before letting out a sigh. “It’s no big deal, Larson. It was just a kiss.” Is he fucking stupid?

“Are you an idiot? It’s averybig deal, Rosen! You’re cheating on my girlfriend’s best friend. So I’d say that’s a big fucking deal.”

“Whatever, dude. Just don’t tell Taya or Leia. Or even fucking Sarah. I don’t need the stress right now.”

I can’t help whatever expression I’m giving him.I don’t need the stress right now. He’s cheating on Taya, and he wants to keep that shit a secret from her. And my girlfriend.

“Why are you doing this to Taya? Are you guys having problems, dude?”

He rolls his eyes again. “Nothing’s wrong with us, dude. But...we’re in fuckingSlovakia! There are so many hot girls here for miles! You can’t tell me you haven’t thought about banging at leastone.” Sothat’swhat this is about. He’s in an exotic land, and he’s like a kid in a candy store. I knew he couldn’t handle it. “Don’t look at me like that, Larson. You and I both know, if you had the chance, you’d bang a Slovak chick in asecond.”

“Nah, dude. Leia’s it for me. I don’t need attention from a Slovak girl to fulfill a sense of adventure on a school trip, dickhead.”

He gives me a rueful laugh. “I know Leia’s it for you, dumbass. Taya’s it for me, too.” I give him a look. What? “But we’re onvacation. This is all a fantasy. Fucking a Slovak girl does not mean I want tomarrythat Slovak girl.” He’s being an idiot and, what’s worse, he’s putting Taya in danger by sleeping with a random girl he knows nothing about.

“You’re not being smart about this, Rosen. You know nothing about that girl.”

“Oh, give me a break, dude. Taya and I will be fine. Just keep your mouth shut.”

I’m about to say something, but the clearing of a throat breaks my attention away from him.

I see her plain as day. My heart lodges in my throat when the first thing I see is her dress. A pink off-the-shoulder dress with frills on the sleeves. The damn thing stops at her knees.

I don’t even care about Hunter and his nonsense anymore. He gives me a slap on the shoulder before leaving me to stare at the gorgeous woman in front of my eyes. My attention is then brought to her hair. She has bangs now. I’m not sure how or when that happened, but they’re beautiful on her. She’s so graceful walking down the stairs to the lobby.

“You have bangs now,” I blurt out foolishly.

She laughs, walking up to me. “I do,” she laughs a bit. “I’ve always had them, but I’ve been pinning them to the side. I’ve always wanted to wear them as is, so...here they are.” She has to be the most beautiful girl I’ve laid eyes on.

“You’re gorgeous...”

She gives me a big smile before leaning up on her tiptoes and kissing me. My arms immediately wrap around her waist. My girl. There’s no way I could ruin this. She suddenly pulls back, and I mourn.

“We can save that for after dinner.” She giggles again before I give her another quick kiss. “What was that about?”

“I just wanted to kiss you.” My lips are roaming down her neck. We’re not even going to make it to dinner at this rate.

“No, silly. I meant, what was that about with Hunter? You guys looked like something happened. Is everything okay?” Shit. I was hoping she wouldn’t ask me about that. Hunter’s a fucking idiot. He’s going to ruin my relationship. Should I tell her?Yes, idiot, you should.

“Nothing serious, babe. He’s just an idiot.” That’s all I can give her right now.

She rolls her eyes, amused. “Yeah, well, what’s new?” I just give her a small smile and lead her out of the hotel lobby.

This isn’t about him. This is her night.

LEIA

My boyfriend is a secretive man. And I’m not sure if I like it.

The talk between him and Hunter looked serious, but he made it seem otherwise. From their talk to the bruises on his body that he doesn’t think I notice, something’s got to give.

He’s ordered a bottle of wine, and I’m instantly confused. He looks up at me, meeting my gaze.

“You good, babe?”

If it weren’t for the fact this is my birthday dinner, I’d unwittingly ruin the night by asking too many questions. But I won’t do that. He planned this night, and I won’t ruin it for either one of us.

“I’m fine. But why did you order a bottle of wine? I’m eighteen,” I chuckle. Surely, he knows I can’t drink wine. He gives me a sheepish smile.
