“You’re wrong,” I tell him. “I had no idea what my dad was planning.”
He shakes his head. “More lies.”
“No!”
I close the distance between us, and grab hold of both his hands. “Listen to me, Nero. I had no idea. The night we spent together, I got home, and found them all waiting. My bags were packed. I didn’t have a choice,” My voice shakes with emotion, remembering my heartache and confusion. I meet his eyes, desperately trying to make him see. Make him believe me.
