The cell phone continues to ring as we stare at one another. This woman isn’t leaving me. She isn’t taking my baby and walking away. I let that shit happen once, and it won’t again. I’ll hide her away, lock her ass up if I have to.

“I need to get that or he’s going to start looking,” she says, though her tone is a bit pleading.

Reluctantly, I take a step backward, releasing my hold on her. She walks over to the car and I watch as she reaches inside, moving the shit around in her bag before she brings the phone to her ear.

Ignoring her conversation, it’s not mine to be involved in, I take a step backward. I hear the door to the clubhouse slam close and I spin around to see Scuba make his way toward me. He’s marching in my direction, his eyes flicking over my shoulder to Tanner and widening before he reaches me.

“What the fuck, that’s that cop’s sister,” he hisses. “And your little bitch was in there whining and moaning about you telling her to be a whore or a stripper. What the fuck is even going on?” he demands.

“She’s havin’ my kid,” I announce.

Scuba takes a step back, stumbling slightly before he rights himself and gathers his footing. He leans in, his eyes wide as he hisses. “Are you fucking serious? You’re joking, right? You’re going to put this whole club back on that asshole’s radar. What the fuck?”

“First, I didn’t know she was his sister when I fucked her. Second, I like her a hell of a lot and I’m keeping her. He’ll just have to get the fuck over it.”

“Goddamn,” Scuba grunts. “Fuck. Prez is going to be so pissed the fuck off. First, this club in Louisiana, and now this shit.”

Narrowing my gaze, I look him directly in the eye. “What about Louisiana?” I ask.

He shakes his head slowly. “They keep encroaching on our shit. They’re causing problems with the new patched-over club and if we don’t stop it now, they’re going to inch their way into Texas, and then the shit will really hit the fan.”

“Those clubs get rid of the men they were supposed to?” I ask.

“Last one just sent confirmation to Ironfist last night,” he informs me. “Well, except this one on the border, I got a verbal, but I did not get a picture.”

Sinking my teeth into my bottom lip, I can’t help but smile before I ask the next question. “We going to Louisiana?” I ask.

“You wanna get some aggression out?” he asks.

“You know that I do.”

“Fuck it, yeah. We have church in about an hour. You need to tie up your shit here before you go, because I doubt that bitch in there is going to keep your little situation a secret.”

Lifting my hand, I run my fingers through my hair, tugging on the ends, then I clear my throat and nod my head. “Yeah,” I agree.

Fuck.

This is going to be all kinds of dramatic fucking bullshit. I can feel it. But then when Scuba jerks his chin, spins around, and leaves, I turn around to give Tanner my attention, I know that it’s going to be worth all of the dramatic bullshit.

Every fucking second of it.
