“Can you take her, protect her? Her father won’t know where to find her if you do.”

“What happens here, to your clubs, between you? Uno’s club represents us now,” I remind them.

Rollin looks to Uno, then shifts his attention back to mine. “Our club is small. We don’t really have much in the way of protection. How about we join the Nasty Bastards?”

Turning to Uno, I arch a brow in question. He nods his head. “I would be down with that. Rollin runs a good group, minus recently when I thought that he was trying to steal our women and blow our asses up,” he says with a chuckle.

“Thanks… I think,” Rollin says.

“Bring it up to Prez when I get back. Bans will run a whole-ass check on you and your men. You’ll have to get rid of men who don’t pass the background, permanently.”

Rollin snorts. “I run a clean club as far as that shit goes. Investigate all you want and if you find anything, I’ll be more than happy to get rid of the fucks myself.”

Dipping my chin, I give him a grin. “Sounds like you got a deal then. We could use the bodies. I’ll take the girl off your hands.”

“So fucking generous of you,” Paige snorts.

Turning my attention toward her, I chuckle as I shake my head. “Trust me, you’ll do just fine, babe. You’ll no doubt fit in like you wouldn’t believe.”

TANNER

“They’re what?” he demands.

I don’t know his name and I don’t want to know. But the way he’s starting to pace, I am now wondering what the hell is even going on. Pressing my lips together, I watch him and wait, hoping to hear something that will help me figure out this fucking plan.

He barks something into the phone that I don’t quite understand, then throws the device against the wall. I watch, shifting backward as much as I can until my back presses against the wall.

Slowly, he turns around, his eyes finding mine. I suck in a breath, holding it as he watches me. He tilts his head to the side before his lips curl into an evil-looking smile. It makes my entire body shiver in disgust, as if he wasn’t already creepy and gross enough.

“You are going to come in seriously handy. They’re coming back home, and it’s almost time for you to shine.”

I don’t ask him how I’m supposed toshine. I honestly don’t give a shit. Not at all, not even in the fucking slightest. I will nevershinefor this asshole, not now, not ever. I may never shine again at this point.

I’ve never wanted my brother to come and rescue me more than I do right now. I was so confident that I could do this life without Brent, that I would have Wesley here too, but I have nothing. Nobody. And I’m not strong enough, not smart enough to save my fucking self.

That’s what pissed me off more than anything. I can’t save myself.

I should be able to. But I can’t.

No matter how badly I want it.
