Copiously.

TANNER

Thankfully, he doesn’t touch me. I don’t know who he was talking to on the phone, but I am ready to cry and fight, simultaneously. I just have to figure out how to fight smart, and through my tears that will no doubt impair my vision. Because this man, he has something up his sleeve and someone involved in Wesley’s club is feeding him information.

Fuck that and fuck him.

Sucking in a breath, I take a look around the room that he’s thrown me in. There is absolutely nothing in here. No furniture, nothing except peeling wallpaper on the walls.

Pressing my lips together, I wonder if I can climb up to the window and somehow get myself through and onto the other side without getting hurt.

Walking over to the window, I try to lift it, but my slim hopes are dashed when I realize not only has it been painted shut, but it’s also nailed shut. The asshole might be an idiot, but he’s probably had practice in kidnapping people.

With a heavy sigh, I stay with my back against the wall, watching the door and wondering when shit is going to go down. Wondering, and hoping, that I’ll have a moment in the midst of whatever chaos that is about to ensue, to run.

I’m ready to run too. Ready to fucking take the fuck off. Because I am not going to sit around here and let this guy do whatever it is he has planned.

The door flies open and he looks at me, but then something else catches my eye. It’s Brianne.Shit. I knew that he had someone in the club feeding him information. Figures it’s her. No wonder he took me, she wants me completely out of the picture.

“My brother is a police officer, and he is not going to let you get away with this. He will find you,” I say, then shift my attention to Brianne before I speak again. “Both of you.”

Brianne doesn’t look scared at all, in fact, she appears to enjoy this. Though I’m not surprised at all. She hates me. Her lips curve up into a huge smile and she leans forward slightly, her gaze hitting mine.

“I can’t wait to watch you die,” she hisses. “But before you go, I need you to know that I’m pregnant with Riff’s baby. So while you and yours die, I want you to be fully aware that I’ll be his woman and we’ll be raising our baby together.”

I don’t give her a reaction of any kind. I refuse. Pressing my lips together, I tilt my head back and look down my nose at her. Inside, I may be terrified, but I will never… not ever, show this woman an ounce of that.

Besides, I’m still holding on to the hope, to the faith, that either Riff or Brent are going to save me, or at the very least that I’ll be able to fight my way out of this myself somehow.
