“I’ll take it from here,” a deep voice came up behind us.

Marissa removed her hand from my elbow and looked at Julian with a look I was taught that wavered somewhere between rage and love.

“I’ll excuse you both,” she turned and rushed away.

I looked at Julian and his brow was furrowed with his arms crossed over his chest.

I cleared my throat, “It is all my fault. Drummer had nothing to do with any of this. I made him bring me here because-“ Julian held up one hand and grabbed my elbow with the other.

We walked to his office in silence with Drummer trailing close behind. When we got to his office, he shut the door.

“I made you worry. I was wrong to have left like that,” I started word vomiting. “I should have told you-”

His mouth crashed down on mine smothering any more words. His hand crept up my thigh hovering around my panty line. I could feel myself beginning to get wet and eyed his desk.

His kiss deepened and his hardness began to press against my belly. I reached down to unbuckle his belt. I undid the button and pulled down his zipper.

He pulled back abruptly and took a step back.

“There’s something I have to tell you first,” his breath husky.

“I have something to tell you too. Let me go first.”

“Let me just get-“

I held up my hand for him to stop.

“I decided to have the operation,” I blurted. “But…”

“But what?” he asked.

“You have to help me with The Wonder Project. I don’t have the power or the resources to stop them. But you do, you have it all. I have the information to bury them, I just need your help. Morla trusted you so I will trust you.”

“Whoa. Slow down. My brothers are working to take down the entire Boy’s Ville syndicate, but I said no to helping them. I’m focused on moving forward not revenge.”

“But it’s not revenge,” I begged.

He folded his arms and searched my face in silence.

“Okay,” he flailed his arms. “Fine, I’ll help you. Maybe I should call my brothers and help them too.”

“Yes, you should. One more thing. That mass in my brain…it’s not just some tumor. It’s all the evidence we need to take these bastards down. You need to sit down.”

“Now, you’re getting weird,” he sat on the small couch.

“It all sounds pretty crazy, I know. Here goes nothing. That thing in my head is a chip meant to control me. See, I went a little haywire and ran away instead of coming in to get fixed up. I have access to their databases,” I tapped my head. “If they get ahold of it, they’ll destroy it and any evidence of the shit they’re doing. That’s why I didn’t want surgery. It has to stay in safe hands.”

“That is pretty weird,” he acknowledged. “If I didn’t have the childhood I did, I might not believe you. There are too many of these fuckers out there screwing with the rest of us. I’m done playing the nice guy.”

“Okay?” I asked.

“Okay,” he confirmed.

“You said you had something to tell me too.”

“It can wait,” he rose and kissed me softly.
