“I will never let anything happen to you ever again,” a tear slipped down my cheek. “I know this is going to be hard to hear, but I have to tell you. No more secrets, right?”
I felt her head nod against my chest.
“I want to keep Marissa’s baby. They won’t let her keep it and it will probably go into foster care until someone adopts it. Half of that baby’s blood is mine. I can be a good father to both babies even if we don’t stay together. I…I hope we do, but I understand if you need to move on.”
There was a long pause.
She pulled her head back and looked up at me with glassy eyes.
“Julian, this has all been a shit show, but a baby doesn’t deserve to pay for it. I guess we’ll know what it’s like to have twins.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
I cupped her face and kissed her hard.
“Rylie, we have a hard year ahead of us, but I wouldn’t do it with anyone else. Now, let’s nail all those bastards.”
