Hyuk-Su decided not to wait around and find out his fate. His knife gleaming in his hand, he lunged for me. With his last act, he wanted to kill me. Suna’s husband. The man he viewed as his competitor. He’d never truly understand how much she hated him.

I ducked his swipe as gunshots echoed through the room.Bang, bang, bang.A confident succession of shots and the thud as a dead man fell to the floor.

I had barely turned in her direction before she flew into my arms. I tensed as her weight hit me in the side.

“Are you alright?”

“I was before you tackled me,” I teased, needing to normalize the situation. Well, as normal as it could be, considering Suna had shot someone dead.

“You can take it,” she said against my chest.

“I can take it. I can do anything as long as this remains,” I said gruffly, pulling her into the circle of my arms. “Now, there better be room in the car for people as well as cases. If not, shoehorn your ass in there. We’ve got a flight to catch.”

“You’ve been stabbed if you care to remember,” Suna said, tilting her beautiful face up to mine and arching an eyebrow at me.

It reminded me of the first time we met when she’d climbed out the window at the party. Was it only a few weeks ago? I felt like I’d known this woman for a lifetime.

I smiled. “They’ve got doctors in Italy.”

“You’re ridiculous,” she teased, and her breath whooshed out when I cupped her face, holding her close.

“I’ve killed men for saying less than that,” I warned her, rubbing a finger over her lips.

Maybe we had time before the flight. I’d love Suna to play nurse for me. I couldn’t bring myself to feel anything about the man lying dead on the floor. He was a monster, and my gorgeous Amazonian of a bride had finally defeated him.

“Is that right? And what about me? What are you going to do to me?”

“Just this,” I promised and kissed her hard.
