“Sure I have,” she says.

“Name one.” I cross my arms and tap my fingers. That isn’t Sher’s style. She’s not the kind who can sleep with a man and never think of him again. Liz can because she doesn’t have the time. I can because it’s convenient for me. But Sher… No way.

“Well, then maybe it’s time I started.” She nods her head to reiterate what she’s saying. Maybe some of it is to convince herself.

“Who thought of starting a business like this anyway?” I ask Liz.

“A woman, back in 2012. Now it’s run by her brother.”

“I bet you he’s a womanizer,” I say thoughtfully.

“Why do you think that?” Sher asks.

“I don’t know. Maybe because I would be if I were surrounded by desperate women looking to get some all day!” I laugh and Liz glares at me. It’s so strange how she and I have the exact same eyes, yet she can make them look so different when she’s angry.

“We’re not desperate. Some of us simply don’t have the time for a relationship, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want the benefits of it every once in a while. Isn’t that what you tell yourself, Cat?” Liz asks, her eyes widening.

“Well, I can’t imagine he’d be married. Who would trust someone in that business with all those hot women wanting to go on a trip?” I point to Liz and Sher.

Sheridan smiles. “Aw, you think we’re hot? Anyway, I wouldn’t even try with a man like that. He would automatically be a no in my boo… Ow!” Sher screeches when the man behind her hits her with his chair as he gets up.

“Sorry,” he grumbles, throwing the tip on the table and walking off.

“What a jerk,” Sher whispers to us.

Liz taps the sides of her lips as if she has anything there to clean. “Neither of you will ever have to worry about meeting Declan Wells. I’ve never met him. The girl at the office said he’s a recluse and goes out of his way to avoid interaction with ‘Travelers.’”

There’s a loud buzz from my bag and I pull out my phone.

My heart skips a beat when I see the little DC on my screen and I click on it so fast I know it caught both Liz and Sheridan’s attention, but I try to play it cool.

-Fine. You win. Today. Take it or leave it. Saddler Beach Resort. #305

“Ha!” I knew he’d be bothered by the little show I put on earlier. Scrambling up, I gather my few belongings. “Um, I have to go. Something… uh, came up.”

Liz and Sher both look at me with knowing eyes that irritate me, especially because they are both throwing each other looks and chuckling under their breath. Like they have some sort of inside joke and I’m the butt of it.

“What came up so suddenly?” Sher asks, suspiciously suspicious.

“Reese. She has a flat tire. Yeah. So, I have to change it.”

“But how are you going to…” the words trail off.

Before those two have a chance to question me further, I race out the door. I’ll be damned if I have to explain myself to anyone. And I’ll be even more damned if I lose out on this opportunity to have no strings attached sex with Dean.

-OTW.
