“It was good, except for the fact that I had to drive. You know how I hate going on road trips,” Sher says.

“Why didn’t you just fly?” I ask. Both Sheridan and my sister have more than enough to pay for a ticket.

“The flight times didn’t work for me,” Liz says.

“I was told to drive,” Sheridan says, looking at Liz. “Certainly wouldn’t have done it voluntarily.”

“So in other words, you were voluntold?” I ask, laughing.

“Stop looking at me like you want to ***beep*** me. Like you’ve already ***beep*** me,” I hear behind me, and turn to see Sher has turned the television back on.

“Really? My kid is here,” I say, pointing to Reese.

“I rather like that desperate look on you,” Liz says, tilting her head slightly as she studies the screen.

All three burst out laughing when Liz pauses the pre-recording on the moment I realize my mic was on, my face contorted in horror.

Throwing my hands up in the air, I say, “I give up.”

These people are who they are, and the more I fight it, the more they will tease. And as long as I’m around Dean, they’ll have lots of ammunition.
