One small nudge and she’d tumble headlong into the addictive, unfathomable euphoria that only Kai could give her.

“Well, winning wars and marking warriors are not my only duties,” she revealed. “Sometimes, the gods themselves need corralling. Some, more than others, need to be put in their place.”

“And you are the one they call upon?”

“Aye,” she said. “You might even call me an enforcer.”

A surprised huff left his chest at that.

“I, as well. I am the Jade Emperor’s enforcer in the Celestial Realm, where I…dwell when I am not sent to earth.”

She heard the hesitation in his voice when he chose his words. It seemed important to note, but she didn’t know why.

Focusing on his words at face value, Eir could see it easily. Who wouldn’t want to harness the power of an earth dragon to do their bidding?

As for Eir herself, she was sent to punish those who needed punishment because…she was a “badass” as Ere would say, and she rather enjoyed it.

“I am very good at it,” she shared, adding a naughty swivel to her hips, making him gasp.

“Have you heard of Loki the trickster?”

“The donkey?” he huffed, trying to keep up with her, his eyes crossing as she wrung his cock with twisting, tight pulls.

“Perhaps,” she allowed with a mischievous smile.

“Loki is a shapeshifter who can take many forms. He turned into a mare once and was impregnated by a stallion. From their union came Sleipnir, Odin’s beloved eight-legged horse.”

“Hmm,” Kai grunted, probably imagining the donkey as his namesake.

“Loki is actually a jötunn too,” she added. “He likes to create havoc in all the realms. Once, he lured the goddess Iðunn out of Asgard with promises of apples even more magical than her own. She was abducted by another jötunn, but eventually Loki helped to bring her back. Of course, the gods would not let this trespass lie. So, they sent me to teach him a lesson.”

“What did you do?” he asked, captivated. “I thought the jötnar were nigh impossible to defeat.”

“Oh, ’tis true,” Eir agreed. “They are strong and powerful enough to rival the gods. Which is why Odin fears them so. At Ragnarök, the gods and the jötnar will clash in the mighty battle to end worlds.”

“But,” she leaned down to buss his lips with a barely-there kiss, “I did not defeat Loki with strength or force. I simply waited for him to play his tricks. I am a patient, stealthy, remorseless hunter, and I never lose my prey.”

He gazed up at her with mischief twinkling in his eyes.

“Tell me.”

She swiveled her hips with extra verve, tightened her core muscles and clenched convulsively around him, making him groan deep and low.

“I waited until the night Loki turned into a mare, blew a palm-full of magic into the wind that Freyja gave me to keep him trapped in that form, and set my stallion loose upon the fields where Loki grazed.”

She grinned beatifically at Kai at that, quite pleased with her trickery.

Her warrior’s belly-deep laugh thrummed from his chest, shaking his body, shaking them both.

“He got his comeuppance then,” she finished her tale. “’Tis why he gave my stallion his name—Nightmare.”

Kai shook his head as his guffaws subsided to chuckles.

“Never cross a Valkyrie,” he surmised. “Is that the moral of the tale?”

“Hmm,” she mused. “I am not so frightening. To hear my sisters tell it, at least most of the time, I’m deadly boring.”

He pulled her down for an unhurried, voluptuous kiss as he fucked up into her with slow, steady, undulating thrusts.
