He dips back in, and I try to stay still until I can’t anymore. The sensation is building, and it’s coming. Fuck, I’m almost there. My stomach tenses up, and I start to convulse.

“You taste so damn good, but that’s all for tonight. We both need to rest up for work tomorrow.”

He reaches for my hand and pulls me up off the couch, assisting me with rearranging my clothes to cover me up.

“Seriously? You don’t want…”

He holds his finger to my lips. “Don’t worry about me, darlin’. I can take care of myself tonight. That’ll help you sleep well.”

He kisses me and then opens his front door.

I stand there, shocked that Hudson isn’t even going to give me the chance to return the favor. What man doesn’t expect something in return? And where the hell has he been hiding my whole life?

The next morning,it’s a normal day at the office for us.

“Good morning, sir. Coffee just like you like it.”

We haven’t slept together yet, but with that suit he’s wearing, that might change tonight. The light blue brings out his eyes, and there is just something different about him today. Even the way he carries himself is different. Maybe happiness is starting to really set in, and it’s changing his persona. I like it.

The rest of the day goes smoothly, and besides the occasional glance at me, it is nothing but professional. Hudson tries hard not to stare at my ass in this navy pencil skirt, but he fails.

My phone buzzes on my desk.

Hudson: My friend Leo is inviting us and some people from work over for a bonfire. You wanna tag along?

Tag along? Is this going to be something where I have to remain professional all night while consuming alcohol? Because if so, probably not a good idea to both go.

Me: Business or Pleasure?

Hudson: Pleasure. He knows about us.

Aww. He is already telling people about us. To be honest, I didn’t expect that yet.

Me: I’m in, then. My sister could use some social interaction outside of the classroom. You think he’ll mind if she comes?

Hudson: Not a problem. I’d love to catch up with her, anyway. 7pm. 6985 Valdosta Drive.

After five o’clock hits, I leave the office, checking in with Hudson before I do, to make sure there isn’t anything else he needs before I go. I get the all clear to go home and get ready.

Once I make it to the complex, before going into my apartment, I stop at Lacey’s and knock.

“Hey sis, so how are things? Y’all talk?” she asks, ushering me inside.

“Good. Actually, I wanted to invite you to a bonfire at seven. I know you have school stuff, but figured it would be a great way for you to blow off some steam and see some old co-workers.”

She agrees and says she will meet me there later. I didn’t want her to forget about having friends during this semester, even though it’s rough on her. Everyone needs to blow off steam every once in a while.

Opening the door to my place, I kick my heels off by the door and walk straight to the shower to turn it on. The warm water beats my skin as I lather my loofah to wash myself. I wonder how tonight is going to go? This will be our first outing as a couple. Or, at least, I assume we are considering ourselves together now. Guess I need to get clarification on that tonight.

After getting out and drying myself off, I head to the closet to pick out something simple to wear to the fire. A denim skirt and a simple red shirt will do. No need to go fancy. Afterward, I finish drying my hair and putting some ez-frizz into it because it’s humid out, and I don’t want my hair to swell up like a rat’s nest.

I glance at the clock and see it’s almost seven already. Shit, I didn’t think it would take me that long to get ready. Glad I didn’t ask to ride with Hudson, or we’d be late.

Me: Leaving in ten.

Only because I need to add some final touches are made on my makeup, and I grab my keys and purse to get to the car. Butterflies take my stomach, preparing for all the looks we will get from the boys from work. Did any of them catch on to our flirting in the past weeks? Maybe they already suspected it and it won’t even phase them in the slightest. Only one way to tell.
