“So, where are you from?” my dad asks.

“I’m from Utah. That’s where my parents still live, too.”

“Are you close with your parents?”

“Yes and no. We don’t talk as often as we used to, but we have a good relationship. They worry about my sister more than me since I’m the oldest.”

Well, her parents are right to worry about Lacey. I mean, look what happened to her. Not sure as a parent how you couldn’t worry after a tragic thing like that happens to your daughter when you are thousands of miles away.

“Well, hopefully, they will come down to visit and we can meet them. Of course, if this works out long term. Don’t want to put any pressure on either of you,” my mom tells Laurel.

Should I feel pressure about it? Weirdly, I don’t. Even though we have only been together a short time, I’d be okay if her parents met mine. I mean, she has already had dinner with my parents. I can’t be hypocritical, right?

Saying goodbyes to everyone, we head back to the complex. This weekend has gone by so fast, and I can’t believe tomorrow is Monday already. Can we press rewind and go back to Friday night again?

When we get to my door, she says she is going to sleep in her bed tonight. It takes me off guard at first. “Do you not like my bed?”

“I do, but mine is bigger,” she says it with a smile. “More room.”

“Well, it looks like I’m sleeping over at your place now.”
