Hudson might say the right things, but I don’t know him. For all I know, he is the one that did this to my little sister. Until she wakes up and says otherwise, I stay cautious.

“We won’t get answers until she wakes up, I guess.”

He runs his fingers through his hair and then begins talking with his hands. “Instincts told me something was wrong when she didn’t show up for work. She has never been late, but after she put in her two-week notice, I thought maybe she found a better job.”

This is where things don’t add up. Lacey didn’t mention leaving the security company. In fact, I’ve never heard her speak ill of it. “So, you don’t know her boyfriend’s name?”

Hudson scratches his chin. “No, but we didn’t speak of our personal lives that often. Setting boundaries is important in business.”

The theory is wrong, they aren’t sleeping together. “Does she hang out with anyone at work?”

“None of my employees are responsible for this.”

“That’s not why I’m asking. Could you ask around and see if anyone remembers her boyfriend’s name?”

Maybe someone at work has heard her mention him. A name is a start.

“The employees are forthcoming. I’ll find out what I can.”

Hudson answers the questions with no hesitation or evidence of lying, but I can’t be too careful right now.

Did Hudson do this to my sister?
