Everyone gathers in the room and watches carefully for her to arrive in Leo’s car. After about thirty minutes, I start to get impatient. Where the heck are they?

“I’ll text him,” Hudson says, pulling out his phone.

“They should have been here by now. It’s not that long of a drive, but my sister probably got sidetracked or something. Love her to death, but she’s not great with time,” I whisper to him.

“They are pulling up now.”

Everyone gets ready, and screams surprise when she walks in.

“Oh my gosh. You didn’t have to do all this…” Tears started pouring out.

“You deserve it.”

There are so many people in the room and some of them I am not even sure how they know Lacey, but this night is all about her.

The night goes on with Lacey mingling around talking to everyone and drinking on champagne. Most people here know about the crap she has gone through in the last six months. Lacey has proven she is a fighter and doesn’t give up easily.

It is nice to see her smiling and laughing with everyone after what we just went through not that long ago. Things like that can sometimes break down someone’s spirit, and thankfully, that isn’t the case with her.

Hudson and my sister are huddled up in the corner, making me wonder what the heck is so serious that they are in a corner whispering.

“What are you guys doing? If you are plotting against someone—please let me in,” I say, looking around.

Lacey steps aside, and Hudson takes my hand. “Actually, we are plotting against you.”

“Why me?” My eyebrow raises.

“Things have been up and down since the moment we met, but through it all—you have been the one constant. Sure, you drive me absolutely nuts sometimes, but I embrace it. You’re the person I’m meant to be with until death do us part, have children, and grow old and gray with. It’s you, baby.”

“Hudson, are you sure? This is a big step and I know about the five years… We don’t have to rush.”

“Screw the five years. Will you marry me?” He gets down on one knee, and I’m trying to hold back tears.

My eyes close, chest rises and falls, “Of course. Yes!”
