Did I have the guts to pull this off? Get married, poison the high warlock, clone myself, and break into the most heavily guarded house in the realm to rescue two shifters?

Yeah, sure. Why not?

I chuckled out loud and hugged my spare pillow to my chest. This was all too much for me. I’d never been so stressed in my life. And yet, sleep didn’t call to me. I wasn’t going to be sick. In fact, I was ready to get up and go.

My mates needed me, and I couldn’t let them down.

I sat up and looked around my room. I had two potions to make, and lots of preparation for my big day ahead.

I spent the next two hours getting ready for our escape. I made the potion for my Snow White kiss and infused it into a lipstick. Then I re-read the cloning spell on the torn page and realized I didn’t need a potion for that one—it was an incantation. A complex one, but still easier than brewing a second potion.

I moved on to packing my bags: one bag for the wedding, and one for my future outside the realm. I’d packed the second one in my hidden purse the other night when we’d tried to run away. I re-checked it now, ensuring it had everything I needed, and added two extra spell books and a few everyday potions as well.

By the time the traditional wedding day bells chimed, signaling that my wedding was about to start, I was ready. I was dressed in the fabulous frock I’d made for myself. My makeup was flawless, and my hair was pinned up with flowers that matched the pale pink and blue trim on the dress and train. Underneath the dress I wore flat, comfortable shoes, ideal for running.

I tucked the poisoned lipstick into a hidden pocket in my dress.

I opened my front door and stared out into my beautiful little garden, my belly alive with butterflies. At the end of this day, I would be married and running to freedom with my men.

Or I’d be dead.
