She turned on the warlock and growled. “So, I’m not choosing between the three of you!Ever. If you want me, you’ll have to be the one to choose if you want to join our family. You got the truth out of me—I want all three of you.”

With a loud popping sound, she broke free of her invisible bonds, jumped to her feet, and threw herself into my arms. I caught her small warm body against mine and cupped the back of her skull, pulling her tight into the crook of my shoulder.

Kyle stepped closer, pressing his hand to her back and patting her gently.

“Fuck,” Michael said.

The sound brought a laugh to my belly.

“You’re telling me!”

Monique pulled back and stared up at me, her violet-blue eyes shiny with tears. “I’m so sorry, Xander. Kyle. Really. I was hoping that part of my vision wasn’t true.”

I wiped her tears away with my thumb and let her turn to Kyle so she could take comfort in his arms. He cuddled her and kissed her, and I got to watch Michael as he absorbed all the affection between the three of us.

He looked like he’d just swallowed a lemon.

“Wolf shifters are super touchy-feely. Just letting you know.” I grinned at the warlock. “So, if you end up living with us, you’re gonna have to remove that pole you’ve got stuck up your ass.”

Michael’s eyes widened, as though he hadn’t actually thought about what Monique’s words would mean for all of us.

“I... ah... I need to go see my father.” He stumbled to the front door and left almost as fast as he’d arrived in Monique’s bedroom.

We all stood together staring after the warlock who’d ruined our day, in every way imaginable.
