Ice water doused my veins. I didn’t know exactly what that meant but it wasn’t anything good. It was a threat. I was almost certain.
I found you.
The only person I could think of who might be looking for Wren was her ex. The man who had hurt her. I looked back at Ellie; Ty was still staring at me, slightly stunned. “Do you know where Tony lives?”
Ellie shook her head. Her lip wobbled. “No, he always told me he lived on campus, but I’ve never been there. We always went to my place because it was closer to work.”
I gritted my teeth and stuffed the card in my back pocket, along with Wren’s phone. Something was going on here. I didn’t know what connection Tony had to Wren’s past, but something bad happened here. It was time to call in reinforcements.
I dug out my phone.
“What’s up?” Colton answered after a few rings. I knew he was at work and by the boredom in his voice, it meant he was probably sitting at his desk.
“Colton,” I said, voice sharp. “I need your help, immediately.”
There was a short pause, and I heard a dull thump like he had set something down. Probably a coffee mug. “What’s wrong?”
I took a deep breath. “Wren is missing. No one has seen or heard from her in almost two days.”
“Shit,” Colton mumbled. “Are you sure?”
“I pinged her phone and found it abandoned, along with her bag, in the campground down by the rockpile.”
“Oh, fuck.”
“Listen, I need you to do something for me,” I said urgently.
“Yeah, of course. What do you need?”
“I need you to find out where Tony Shepard is staying. I need to know everything you can find out about him.”
“Tony Shepard—got it. I’ll call you back as soon as I know anything.”
“As soon as you get the address, call me. I’m going to call the chief, too. We will need a team over there ASAP.”
“Sure thing, Atlas.”
“Thank you.” I was about to hang up when he said my name. I paused.
“We’ll find her.”
My hand clenched around the phone. “I know.”
