“Knock knock. How you doing?” came the object of my thoughts.
Both Meredith and I went wide eyed.
“Maybe we said his name too many times,” I murmured.
Hearing me, she laughed. “Hi, Lucas. Come on in.”
His beautiful smile faltered when he spotted me. So much for avoiding awkward. Now we had an audience to our post-coital meeting.
Meredith either didn’t recognize or chose to ignore his uneasiness. “We were just talking about you.”
His brows went sky high. “Were you, now? What did you say?”
“I told her I thought you two would make a cute couple.”
“Is that right?” His voice went so high with panic I had to chuckle.
She shrugged. “Yes, but she assured me you weren’t her type.”
Bless Meredith for not feeding his ego or his fear.
“Interesting.” He avoided eye contact.
Time to go before I got annoyed at his inability to act normal. “On that note, I’ll let you two visit. Nice to see you, Meredith. Keep me updated on baby Noah.”
“I definitely will. Thanks again for everything.”
“You’re welcome. See you later, Lucas.”
