My giggle bubbled up at the memory. “Balls off the table?”

He threw his head back with laughter. “Indeed they were; otherwise, we would’ve wrecked.” He drained the rest of his Scotch. “You want another drink or are you ready to get out of here?”

“I’m ready.” I was anxious to get him alone.

He paid the bill, took my hand, and led me toward the elevator. He pressed the seventh floor. “You okay coming to my room tonight?”

“I don’t know. I’ve only done this type of thing once before. Met this hot guy at a hotel bar down in Orange County.”

His handsome face scrunched up. “Don’t you mean twice? Something about a waiter.”

The fact he remembered was amusing. “Mm, never went through with it.”

“Interesting. What other secrets have you been hiding from me?”

“Just one.”

He closed the gap, cupping my face. “Which is?”

“I failed at my one and only one-night stand. Fell in love with him.”
