“Funny. But real talk. What happens once I return?”

“You mean aside from locking you in a hotel room for an entire week so I can keep you naked and under me?”

“Yeah, aside from the sex. Which, for the record, I’m going to need to be on top at least one of those days.”

Damn, was it any wonder I was obsessed with this woman? “Agreed. As for the plans for after, I figure I have three months to convince you to go into business with me.” I leaned back to watch the myriad of emotions play across her face. “I’m sure you have questions, but the CliffsNotes version is we go into a partnership. We focus on home health care and expand with other doctors to provide the total experience. We have a lot to figure out, but we’ll talk and email and plan.”

“You want a partnership with me—in your new business?”

My hand caressed her face. “I want a partnership with you in everything. And if you don’t wish to stay in LA, then we’ll move. If you don’t feel comfortable about going into business together, then you find a practice where you’ll be happy, and I’ll do something nearby.”

“You’d move for me?”

“The place we live and work is negotiable; having you in my life isn’t.” Brooke had already compromised her career aspirations for her mother and her ex. There was no way I would ask her to do the same for me. “You don’t have to answer me now. Let’s take the next three months to talk about it.”

“But here’s the thing…” Her eyes sparkled.

“Uh-oh, I sense mischief. Tell me.”

“Crazy girls aren’t known for their patience in making decisions. Instead they jump in headfirst.”

“Meaning?”

“I’m in. You, me, LA, business partners, the whole thing.”

“You’re sure?”

“My rash decisions have yet to lead me astray. Going to be a long three months, though.”

“Three months apart is only a drop in the forever bucket.” With Brooke there was no doubt I meant every word. We weren’t guaranteed tomorrow, but for each one I was lucky enough to receive, I wanted to make sure it was with her.

Her lips parted, and she gave one of those sighs you get when you realize you’ve said the right thing. “Forever, huh?”

“It’s my new favorite F-word. In fact, it replaces all other F-words.”

“In that case, I’m going to need you to ‘forever’ me right now.”

I’d never get enough of this woman. “Prepare to be forevered all night long.”
