He’s fighting a losing battle because I want him to lose control.
“Irelynn, you’re so fucking good at this. I’m going to come soon if you don’t—”
Taking him deeper into my mouth, his head falls back as he sucks in a breath. I do the swirly thing with my tongue again and his body tenses. Cupping his balls in my hands, I feel them tighten.
His fingers move to my jaw, drawing my attention to him. “Fuck, beautiful, I’m gonna come any second, so if you don’t want to swallow, you better stop now.”
My eyes meet his and I suck him faster and deeper, moaning as I do. I gave him the answer he needed as he fists my curls harder and begins thrusting faster, chasing his release.
Max lets out a long groan as he comes inside my mouth. I swallow all his impressive load, feeling the weight of it sliding down my throat. He strokes the indentation of my cheek lovingly, showing appreciation for my oral skills.
He extends his hand to me, and I take it, his large hand pulling me to my feet. “You’re the most incredible woman I’ve ever fucking met, do you know that?” His blue eyes are soft as he lowers his head to mine, his hand cupping the back of my neck as he tilts me back slightly, giving me a kiss worthy of a scene from a romance movie.
When he stands me up, I give him an enchanted smile, completely lost in the bliss of the moment. Hearing the microwave beep, my eyes widen, and I look at Max. He looks as stunned as I am, but recovers quickly, chuckling against my forehead as his lips press against it.
“Shit, I forgot about Vanessa coming home. I wonder how long she’s been here?” My face is panicky as I slowly pull away from him.
He shrugs. “Not sure. I was too… um… distracted to pay attention.” His lips curve in a seductive smile and I laugh.
“Guess we should get dressed so you can go to work.” The words are barely out of my mouth when Max’s timer on his phone beeps from inside the pocket of his jeans, which are still pooled at his feet.
“That’s my cue,” he says with a grin, bending over and grabbing his boxers, pulling them up first. I can’t help but admire his bare ass in the reflection of my dresser mirror behind him. As he stands in his boxers, he grins at me. “See anything you like?”
“I could see more if I wouldn’t have forgotten to take your t-shirt off,” I quip, a flirtatious smile on my face.
Max pauses his movements, hesitating for a few brief moments, his muscles tense. The smile on his face doesn’t reach his eyes.
But then he shakes his head, his fingers moving beneath my chin. “Later, baby. Maybe after dinner?”
I wonder if I imagined his odd reaction since he rebounded so quickly.
My gaze is locked on his. “I could definitely go for that. Sounds like the best dessert.”
My heart beats harder from the intense look in his eyes. He stares at me like he can see straight into my soul. My grandfather’s words run through my head, “The eyes are the window to the soul, my dear Irelynn. One day, you’ll find a man who can see into yours.”
My face flushes and I turn my head away, breaking contact with Max, fear welling inside my chest.
It’s too soon, that voice says inside my head.You’ll wind up with a broken heart.
“Are you okay, beautiful?” His concerned voice comes from behind me.
I paste a smile on my face, trying to push the negative thoughts away. “I’m good. Just imagining some of the things Vanessa will say if she heard us.” My face is scarlet as I lower my head, gazing at my red toenails.
Max chuckles, putting an arm around me. “Don’t let her get to you, baby. She just likes teasing you.”
Nodding, I dress quickly. Grabbing his hand, I tug on his arm. “Let’s go face the music.”
“Irelynn—”
“No worries, Max. I won’t let her embarrass me.”
He closes his mouth, then wraps his fingers around mine, following me to the living room.
Vanessa is sitting on the couch, bare feet propped on the ottoman, when we walk out, drinking a cup of tea. “Hey, guys.” Her eyes flit from us to the TV.
Wow. That was easier than I thought.
I exhale the breath I’m holding as Max’s phone timer beeps again.
