“Good make-out sess?” She calmly takes a sip of her tea.

“Who said anything about making out?” My eyes are round with innocence.

“Oh please, Irelynn. You two can’t keep your hands off each other.” She takes another sip of her tea.

Shaking my head, I turn and head to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water. By the time I’ve returned to the living room, I’d already twisted the cap off. Taking a huge swig, I brush my hand over my lips, getting rid of the water dribbling from my lips. “We can keep our hands to ourselves.”

“Oh, please.” She rolls her eyes. “Your shirt is on inside out and judging from the noises coming from your bedroom, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know what was happening.”

I had just taken another large sip of water…damn her. Water flies from my lips, all over the carpet. Wiping my hand over my mouth, I look down at my shirt. “Shit. It is on inside out.”

“Yup. So… did you fuck Max yet?”

“Seriously, Vanessa?”

She shrugs. “He’s hotter than hell, completely into you, and judging by the blush on your face, the man is good at whatever you two have done.” She shifts her body, pulling one leg in as she studies me. “He’s gifted with his tongue, isn’t he?”

My eyebrows shoot up. “You got that from my face?”

“Actually, no. I got that from your screams. When you yelled, ′Fuck, I’m going to come all over your tongue.”

“Oh my God, I didnot.” My face is on fire, my hands going to my cheeks.

“You did. And since that’s very unlike you, I figured your head was so far in the clouds, you had no idea what you were saying. Or yelling, in this case.”

“Shut up, Vanessa. You are making that up.” I shake my head, brushing a lock of hair from my face.

“Fine, don’t believe me.” She gives me a wicked grin. “Why don’t you text Max and ask him?”

“I don’t need to text him and ask him that. You’re making it up.” I let out an exasperated breath.

“Hell no, I’m not. I’m not that creative.” She grins. “Just ask him.”

I shake my head, pulling my phone out. I don’t intend to ask him. I just want an excuse to talk to him. “What the hell am I supposed to say?”

“Just text him and say you had an amazing afternoon with him. See if he says anything specific back.”

I do as she asks, not expecting him to respond for a while since he’s driving to work. I roll my eyes as Vanessa smirks at me. “How about we go for a run through the woods?”

“Yes. I’m out of shape after the summer I had.” She stands, jiggling her thighs. “Look at these flabby thighs.”

She’s so dramatic. “You do not have flabby thighs. But I could use a run. Let’s go get changed.”

We head to our respective rooms to change into our running attire. I pull on a pair of running shorts and a tank top. When I’m finished, I head out to the living room, my phone in my hands, pulling up my running app that calculates distance and speed. As I do, my phone beeps with a text from Max. My face turns scarlet as I read it.

Max:Hey beautiful. Best afternoon ever. You can come on my tongue any day of the week.

Shit. Vanessa was right. I did say that. As I’m typing a reply to Max, Vanessa looks at my red face, leans over my shoulder, and reads Max’s text, then howls with laughter. “Told you.” She smirks. “I should have placed a bet with you. I’d be eating ice cream that you paid for right now.”

I stick my tongue out at her. “Won’t that contribute to the ‘flabby thighs’ problem you think you have?” I tease her. Looking at my phone, I finish typing my response to Max.

Me: Oh. My. God. I really said that? Vanessa is giving me shit about yelling it.

Max: You don’t remember yelling that? Damn, my skills must be impressive.

Me: No memory of it. You are very gifted with your tongue and hands.

Max:I can’t wait to use my gifted hands and tongue on you again.
