Camdyn

Sometime later, Willow’s hot, naked body straddles my waist. It feels like the light of heaven shines down as she smiles, mindlessly thumbing the beautiful tattoo on my shoulder. Hazel eyes alight in familiarity. She nudges her chin to the top of a building right outside of my apartment. “How close are we to my place?”

When her thighs squeeze around my waist, my laugh sends her sopping cunt dragging over my waist. “Couple of miles. You deliberating running home?”

Her lovely hazel eyes roll to the left. “You think I need to run?”

My hands clamp Willow’s thighs, and I hold her above me, biceps flexed, eyebrow cocked. “This answer your question?”

The brightest smile feathers across her cheeks. “Put me down.”

I bring her curvy, warm body back down and flip her until I’m on top. I support myself on my elbows, giving her baby bump a bit of room. “Now, back to me living a few miles away. Had I known you were expecting, I would’ve pitched a tent on your front lawn.”

“You never came by.”

“Nah. I dropped by at all fucking hours. Didn’t see you.” I sigh heavily. “Fuck my luck.”

Willow snorts. “Surely, you racked up some good luck. After all, you purchased thousands of dollars in flowers. You made the day of so many strangers.”

“Fuck. Flowers cost a pretty penny. You gave them all away?”

She breaks out into a fit of giggles. “Not the hibiscus. Those were too gorgeous to let go.”

I thump her hip with my cockhead. “You’re in so much trouble.”

“Timeout, porn star . . .” The smile fades, and she winces. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.”

I sit up. “Are we walking on eggshells because of the videos, Willow?”

“Though I’ve forgiven you, the images are emblazoned in my mind, Cam.”

The awkward silence that instigated our argument earlier leaks into the room. I let out a ragged breath.

“We might be young, Lo, but I’m aware of what hell feels like. It’s living without you. When we fucked, I told myself to go slow. Clearly, you weren’t having that. Right now, I keep telling myself to go slow.” Nerves on edge, I push a loc behind her ear. “But look at you, you’re still my everything. If you give me this entire lifetime to love you, I’ll never take you for granted again.”

Something unreadable flashes across Willow’s exquisite face. “Cam—”

“This wasn’t just sex between two people addicted to each other. You’ve gotta give me a chance to win you back.”

“No.” She blinks, tears coming to fruition in her eyes.

Ten, nine, eight. The guy who placed his hands around Willow’s throat stands on guard. Three, two, one. Breathe, motherfucker.

“Okay.” My voice is a low grouse, bordering on empty. Ignoring the pain in my heart, I skim the curve of her hips with my knuckles. “You’re denying a MacKenzie, Willow. I’ve an affinity for never giving up, so I’ll shoot my shot. I’m still gonna try tomorrow, though, and the day after that.”

Willow clasps a pillow to her chest when she should be hugging me. With a silly smile, she asks, “And the day after that?”

“Til I die.” Keep your paws to yourself, Cam. Win her the old fashion way. “I’ve spent over twenty thou on flowers in the past few months. I’m a gold club member. There’s plenty more where that came from.”

“You’re threatening me with flowers?”

“Hibis . . .” I try and stop, exasperated. “Whatever the fuck you just said, Willow. Yeah. I am”

“I’m saying no, don’t try.”

This hurts like hell. Literal fucking flames lick across my skin.

“Camdyn,”’ she sighs. “I’m all in. I more than trust you. I’m in love with you.”

“Serious?”

“Yes, dummy. I didn’t waste my breath arguing with you, Cam. We probably have more to talk about later, though.” She yelps as I catch her body between my arms, mounting her. I kiss a trail down her jawline, over her throat, and linger at the drumming of her heart while cupping her breasts together. Then my mouth stops on her stomach, and I plant a tender kiss there too. The day my lips crashed against Willow was insane. Now, I’m ready to protect her, and I’ve given my heart to a little baby that I haven’t even met yet.

Willow and I may suck at this thing called love, but it can only get better from here. We’re a little toxic—two broken souls who felt so alone in this world. Shit, I now know I never felt alone until I didn’t have Willow. We clash, we fight, and we’ve created magic. This is my version of perfection.

Our love will be different this time. Maybe it won’t be a conventional fairytale, where our lips are desperate to taste each other every time our bodies rock together. Maybe it won’t be extremely dark and broken. I’m fucking determined not to believe the bullshit. We are not bad for each other.
