Camdyn

Motorcycles and choppers are in the parking lot at Marina Del Rey. Ass keeps sauntering in front of me as I sit on my Harley, and none of these bitches are Barbies. The girls from my old high school stroll around in tiny scraps that fight to contain their curves. There’s not a single label in sight.

“You haven’t cut that?” Ace asks.

I wipe the smile from my face and look after the next chick strolling past us. “Rina? Bro, my mind’s a million miles away.”

“Don’t tell me you’re thinking about that yacht party?” Duke shakes his head. “Those rich bitches have you on a whole nother level of bullshit.”

“I invited all three of you.” I glance them over.

“Five hundred just to get on board? I’ll pass,” Ace cuts in.

“My question is—” River speaks up.

“Fuck you, Riv,” I say, cutting him off. “You were supposed to square up last week.”

River stares at me as he straddles a busted Kawasaki. He’s of Pacific Island descent. I’ve never asked which one, though. It’s never mattered. He’s as close to a best friend as I’ve got.

Ace shoots a brow up. “The new foster daddy holding your dick?”

“Hey,” Riv growls. The sides of his dark hair are shaved, and the long hair down the center flops to one side as he glares at Ace. “Don’t say shit about Mr. Li, and he ain’t my foster anything. He’s my coach.”

River has lived in the same shitty ass foster home for years. When we met in middle school, he’d gone AWOL. His caseworker threatened to place him in an out-of-state group home. So, he’s stuck it out at the same placement. He spends most of his time with his MMA coach, Li.

Ace laughs. “Thought so. You’re still holding out to fuck Tatum.”

I cock a brow. River won’t be fucking Tatum Li, period.

“Stop changing the subject.” Duke speaks up. “Tatum and Riv ain’t ever happening. Tatum and me—”

Chest puffed like a fucking peacock, River climbs off his red motorcycle, moving toward Duke. Air catches in Ace’s throat.

“Like I was saying,” Ace measures out. “Tatum’s a good girl. Camdyn, you chasing at pieces of ass you already had. What’s that about?”

I run a hand over my face.

Now, all three of them regard me with interest. River mostly keeps to himself, but Duke is about as nosey as Ace.

“I met this girl—”

“Not a bitch,” Duke groans. “But a girl. Woah. Next, we’ll hear Cam got married.”

“Honestly, she keeps ditching school.”

They blink in my direction.

“She’s not the type.” I glance across the lot to the shore. Families are tugging coolers and canopies for a day at the beach.

“You got the girl ditching?” Duke snorts. “She got a big ass, though?”

“A whole fucking donkey back there.” I pluck the blunt I rolled from my khaki shorts and light up.

“Well, if donkey butt’s gonna be at the yacht party tonight?” Ace glances at Duke and River.

“Nah,” River shakes his head, “Li’s having a barbecue.”
