Pausing to take a breath, I shake my head. “No, nothing’s wrong. I’m fine. I’ve just figured it out.”

“Figured what out?” He cocks his head, arching an eyebrow, and I can’t help but laugh. He looks just like Preston but yet he doesn’t. Grey is Grey—artful in his expressions and unique in personality. The two brothers couldn’t be any more different, despite being identical. Preston was quiet and studious, preferring to remain indoors and ever the perpetual rule-follower. Greyson is adventurous, witty, and thrives on being around others. His past behavior doesn’t define him and although we’re platonic, I couldn’t ask for a better person to do this parenthood thing with. He’s a natural, swooping in like a knight when needed, and Theo loves him.

“I know what I want to do—for a career. It just clicked when I was out riding Rebel.”

I peek into the living room. Theo is still snoozing away on the couch, his mouth ajar. Grabbing a notepad and pen from the kitchen drawer, I take a seat at the oak farmhouse table and wait as Grey sits down in front of me, his hands clasped, a bemused expression on his face.

“Equestrian Therapy.” As I write it down in my notebook and circle it, my heart beats faster in excitement.

“Go on, I’m listening,” he says.

“I read an article last year on it and it intrigued me, but I put it aside as just a cool idea until today. Being out there with Rebel after the stressful day I had was magic. All the negative feelings disappeared, and I was the calmest I’ve felt since I got here.”

Grey leans in, a smile playing on his mouth, his dimple deepening, and waits patiently for me to let loose this new revelation of mine.

“I remember reading this type of therapy is used for helping people with emotional management, self-regulation, improving communication, increasing self-worth, and so much more. I want to be a part of doing that for others. Others like me that take on the stress of the world and need an outlet—a healthy one. Or, in your case, a healthy way to cope with addictions without all the stigma behind it.” I’m practically out of breath, on the edge of my seat, waiting for his reaction.

Grey eases back in his chair and fiddles with the ring on his middle finger. I hold my breath as he contemplates everything I’ve just word-vomited.

A smile crests across his face and he spreads his arms wide. “When do you want to start?”
