Laughing and grimacing, Grey holds him tight, face buried in Theo’s dark hair. “I’m good, kid, I promise.”

My chest aches as I watch their reunion. Two halves of my whole heart. How did I get so lucky?

* * *

Three days jetby and between spending long hours at work and carting Theo to practice all by myself, I’m beyond ready to settle down and spend time with Greyson… alone. That little taste of his hands on my body kept me company at night but left me completely preoccupied with feeling him again.

Chucking my tennis shoes off at his door, I pad across the wood floor, toss my purse in his armchair and gaze down at the sleeping man taking over the whole couch, muscular legs splayed, hand flat on his bare chest. I palm the back of a cushion and press a kiss to his forehead, when his eyes spring open, pupils flaring wide, and a lazy grin spreads across his face.

“Hey beautiful,” he drawls, stretching out, his long, lean muscles flexing, and I can’t help but stare at those defined pecs and chiseled abs.

Holy smokes, I get to touch those soon.

My wits gathered, I respond, “Hi sleepyhead. How do you feel?”

“Like I need my girlfriend, not a doctor. Unless you’re up for a little sexy roleplay.” Wiggling his thick eyebrows, I laugh as he tugs me down to his chest. A quick glance at Theo’s closed bedroom door tells me I got time for a swift kiss, and I tilt my head to peck Grey’s lips lightly.

He didn’t agree and held me fast to him, hand on my nape, the other on my ass, keeping me in place. I melt into his soft kiss and warm embrace for just a second before pulling back.

He groans and lets me stand, dragging a hand down my thigh like a man possessed. “When does this kid leave for camp again?”

“Tonight. Drop-off is at six.”

“Not soon enough,” he growls, the meaning clear in those darkening blue eyes.

“You’re still healing,” I retort in a teasing tone.

“Bullshit. I’m healed,” he utters with desperation, sitting up.

“Doctor’s orders.” He no longer wears the splint, but his wrist is wrapped with an ace bandage and the bruises once black and blue have faded to a greenish yellow.

“You’re breaking my heart, Scar. Not to mention his big heart, too.” He gestures to his crotch—semi-hard, and I huff out a laugh at his faux sad face.

“Be real with me. Are you scared to take the next step? We can go slow—I’m in no rush. I can’t say the same for Grey Junior, but I’ll try to keep him corralled.” His smile is edged with uncertainty and my stomach dips.

“No! No. Not at all. I trust you—completely. I’ve just been swamped with work. After the gala tomorrow, it’ll slow down.”

Blowing out a breath, ruffling his hair, he sighs. “Good, because I have so many plans for us.”

My limbs shiver in anticipation of what his plans mean. With Grey, it could be anything. Including the involvement of food or outdoor play. He’s a wildcard I can’t wait to hold.

I’ve debated when to tell him about the night I took care of him while he was sick. Curiosity begs me to keep quiet to see if any of those naughty bits he whispered in my ear were true. If that unforgettable evening at the hospital was any sign, I’m in for the time of my life.

Thrill and exhilaration cling to every bone in my body. Boy, is it hard to stand here in front of this sexy man all rumpled from sleep and not want to pounce on him. But not wanting to hurt him further and delay any future activities, I’ve refrained from ripping his clothing off myself.

Oh, and Theo still lurking around, hovering over his dad—albeit completely adorable—is also a buzzkill.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Grey asks, sketching a brow in my direction.

“What do you mean? I’m looking at you how I normally do.” I lie through my teeth.

He runs his thumb across his bottom lip and I track it. Slow and deliberate—he wants me to watch him. Standing abruptly, he quirks his plush lips, again distracting me with his movements, and backs me into the corner near his hall closet, pinning me with his hard body, all six-foot-two of him, bare chest and all.

“Naw, your face says you can’t wait for me to divulge all the wicked things I want to do to you.” His minty breath skates across my lips as he nuzzles my cheek.

“Possibly. I’m a patient woman, though.” Another bald lie. Sliding my hands up his arms and behind his neck to his thick locks, I pull slightly.

“Tug while you can, darlin’. I ain’t getting any younger. Or any more patient.”
