Dad really needs to get better at hiding his snacks. Heck, he hid his feelings for mom for years. He should be a pro, but he acts like a rookie, shoving them into the cabinet above the fridge, like I won’t climb up there to get ’em.

Mom and Dad don’t think I’ve figured them out, but although I’m only twelve years and ten months old, I’m not dumb. I see the way they look at each other. They’re also not aware I saw them kiss on the porch before Mom’s date. Dad has a thing for windows and ours are pretty big, so plenty of glass to see through. It was weird—sorta—but okay at the same time.

I’ve always wanted them together ever since I was little. They make sense. Always laughing together. Shelby told me once that you can’t fight when you’re laughing and I think that’s true for them, because they never fight. Unless you count the other night. I think he growled at her… but it didn’t exactly sound mean. Anyway, I’m pumped that I’m headed to camp for a week. Beats having to listen to grown-ups make out.

Gross.

But at the same time, my chest gets tight and fuzzy when I think about how much I’ve wanted them to be in love and how my wish might finally come true.
