confused her ever since she’d walked into Giana’s office.

Right now, she wasn’t that cold, commanding ice queen

who held the city in her fist and had enough money and power

that she could do whatever she wanted. She was human. She

was passion. She was somehow exactly what Coralyn needed

to crash up against and break apart all over. They were

connected. By that necklace, by her father’s dying wish, and

maybe by something they couldn’t understand.

Giana was fighting for her now. No one had ever made

Coralyn feel the way she did. She was entirely at Giana’s

mercy, but as her hands stripped away her sweatshirt, pulling it

over her head, disrupting the neat bun she’d tucked her hair

into to keep it out of her face and sending it all over, she felt

like she could trust her.

Her kisses were like fire, but she tasted like water. Like cool

mint and something soothing and refreshing. There was no

way she should be doing this, but she allowed Giana to guide

the tank over her head as well, until she was pressed up against

the wall in a bra and Giana’s borrowed yoga pants.

“God, Jesus, fuck…” Giana panted. Her lips sealed over

Coralyn’s again and she couldn’t stop from kissing her back.

Tasting her sweet mint lips. Her tongue and her teeth made

Coralyn feel like she was discovering parts of herself that she

hadn’t known existed. One more scrape of Giana’s teeth over

her lower lip and she was trembling, arching forward, begging.

Even with her eyes closed, she could remember the exact

shade of green of Giana’s eyes. A shade she couldn’t describe

because there weren’t enough colors in the world for it. She

allowed her hands to brush over Giana’s black blouse, over the
