“Hey, Ry! What’s up, Danny?”

I smile and wave when Ryan pulls the door open wider, and Bodhi steps into the foyer.

“It’s good to see you, man. What brings you by?” Ryan asks him as the two share a quick handshake, and then they move farther into the house to join me by the island after Ryan closes the door.

“Heard you got a roommate. Thought I’d be neighborly and bring a dish over to say congrats.”

Ryan groans as Bodhi holds up a Tupperware container in his hand when they get to me. “She just got here fifteen minutes ago. How do you already know this?”

Bodhi just chuckles at Ryan. “How long have you lived here, man? Dottie told Melanie at The Barge, who told Gina at Starboard Sweets, who told Adam at the golf course, who told Tess while she was bartending there. I also saw the video of you two making out at Giovanni’s. Nice. Who wants pot brownies?”

There’s a fucking video? Why do I suddenly want to watch it? Over, and over, and over again.

I quickly grab the Tupperware container out of Bodhi’s outstretched hands.

Ryan just turns his head and cocks an eyebrow at me, and the corner of his mouth tips up into a grin.

“What? They help me… be more creative,” I tell him with a shrug.

And hopefully a hell of a lot less nervous about living with you.

“Right on!” Bodhi holds his fist out toward me, and I bump my own against it. “If you need more of those, you know where to find me.”

I set the Tupperware container down on the island as Bodhi turns and starts heading back to the door. He quickly stops in the entryway and spins back around.

“You know what’s funny? I stayed on Tess’s couch when I first got here, because I didn’t have a place to stay. And now we’re married and have a baby!” He just grins at us, and I suddenly feel like shoveling that entire container of pot brownies in my mouth.

“Whelp, thanks for stopping by!” Ryan quickly tells him, pushing him toward the door and holding it open for him.

After they say goodbye and Bodhi is gone, Ryan joins me again by the island.

“You didn’t tell me there was a video,” I accuse, and his cheeks flush, and it’s so adorable I can’t handle it. “Have you seen it?”

“What? No! Huh? Why would I watch it? Definitely not. Nope!” Ryan quickly replies, not meeting my eyes as he rubs one of his hands against the back of his neck.

He’s totally lying. And I’m totally turned on at the thought of him sitting alone somewhere, watching that video.

Or maybe he’s telling the truth and just freaking out that I’m even bringing this up. Which is probably the more likely case.

Fuck my life.

“I think I’ll just… go and unpack,” I tell him.

“Sounds good! Let me know if you need help. I’ll just… go do something.”

We both step to the right and bump into each other. With an awkward laugh, we try again, except we both just move to the left and run into each other again. We’re standing so close our toes are touching, and I can feel the heat from his body and how damn good he smells. Knowing I need to get the hell away from him before I do something stupid, I let out a huff of annoyance at myself.

“How about you go left, and I’ll go right?”

“You’re left or mine?”

“Just… go that way,” I point towards the living room.

“Got it. One… two… three, break!” Ryan shouts with a clap of his hands like the coach he is, making me laugh as he darts around me.

He hurries over to the sliding glass doors without another word and disappears out onto the deck.

“Super,” I mutter to myself as I turn and head down the hall. “This isn’t going to be awkwardat all.”
