That’s an understatement coming from my sweet cousin. I had no idea how she felt about being part of my bridal party until we all reconnected that weekend.

We were all talking about what happened the night before when she admitted that she had thought we'd all bailed on her. It was clear to her from everyone’s reactions that none of us felt that way at all. To this day, we all make sure to check in with one another now that we are all over the country.

Claire and Adam are in the middle of moving him out of Las Vegas. After his sister moved to be closer to where her daughter goes to school, he didn’t want to stick around either. So he and Claire have been making plans to travel around the country. I think she said that it was called "van living." She's really come out of her shell since meeting Adam, and I can't wait to see what’s in store for them next.

“Knock, knock,” Jordan says as he cracks open the door to the bridal suite.

All the girls leap to their feet, yelling for him not to come in and see me. I smile when I hear him chuckle. He already knows better than to barge right in. Veronica was very clear with him on all the traditions.

“I’m just looking for a minute to speak to my future bride.”

Beth grabs my dress hanging on the wall and moves it into the bathroom so he doesn't see it. And I get up to step behind the dressing screen to hide from him and him from me.

The girls shuffle out, telling him he can only have a few minutes because we need to finish getting ready.

“I promise, it won’t take more than a few minutes.”

We both wait until the door clicks shut behind all the girls before I step out from behind the screen.

“You look beautiful,” Jordan says, pulling me into his arms.

“I’m not even in my dress yet, and my head is filled with curlers.” I laugh.

“You always look beautiful to me.”

I push up onto my toes and kiss him. “Thank you for coming to see me. I wasn’t sure you’d have your phone on you to get the message.”

“You aren’t getting cold feet, are you?” he asks, his voice laced with uncertainty.

“No way. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

“Then what is it?”

“With all the pressure from everyone for this day to be perfect, I wanted to remember what this day is truly all about.”

“You and me.”

I smile. “You and me.”

There’s a knock at the door, but it doesn't open.

"Two minutes, you two!" Jessie calls out.

“I’m about to get dragged out of her, but I want you to know that I will be the happiest man in the world waiting for you at the end of the aisle.”

“I can’t wait.”

We kiss one more time before Jordan backs up to the door and disappears. I walk over to the bag in the corner that I kept hidden away. It's the final gift I have for my bridesmaids. I pull out each mug just as the girls return.

“What’s this?” Claire asks.

“Just a little something special I thought we’d all enjoy. Thanks in part to Dean and his connections to the Las Vegas Police Department.”

The girls look at each of their mugs and laugh—a reminder of the night that changed all of our lives for the better.

“You put all our mug shots on mugs?” Beth laughs.

“Yep!”

"A toast then," Veronica says, pouring a splash of champagne into each of our mugs, but Beth adds orange juice to hers.

“What should we toast to?” Jessie asks.

“Love.” I smile at all of them. “And our freedom.”
