"Blondie," Isaac mumbled.
Katie sat up.
Pointing her phone's light across the room, she answered, "Isaac?"
He didn't respond. His eyes were shut.
A little bubble of pride expanded her chest.
Katie didn't even care that they were fever-induced, it still gave her a little thrill to know he was dreaming about her.
Besides that, at least he was sleeping.
She really needed to be.
After tucking her phone back into her pocket, Katie settled her head onto the throw pillow and pulled the microfiber blanket up around her shoulders.
If she was lucky, maybe she'd have a dream that would leave his name on her lips too.
Chapter 17
Katie woke to the sun peeking through the curtains closed over the window beside Isaac's bed. The phantom memory of his body rocking heavily against her hips still playing in her dream-drunken mind.
Isaac, on the other hand, slept soundly under the influence of the heavy-duty cold medicine completely unaware of all the naughty things he’d done to her in her dreams.
Thank God.
And since it was likely he’d be like that for another hour or so, Katie headed to her dorm room. Hoping, in the time it took her to pack some clothes and other necessities, the phantom feeling of him between her legs would fade and she'd come back, ready to work.
???
Standing in front of her closet stuffing clothes into an overnight bag, Katie's phone buzzed in her pocket. She took it out and read the message.
Amber: How's it going?
Shit.
With her project and taking care of Isaac, Katie had completely forgotten to text Amber.
Katie stared at the screen.
What was she going to tell her? How pissed would Amber be if she knew Katie had not just offered but forced Isaac to let her take care of him after giving up going on spring break with her?
Katie: As well as could be expected.
The selective truth might come back to bite her later but there was no point in telling Amber everything now. Risk ruining the time her friend had left wishing Katie was there.
Amber: Miss you. <3
Katie's heart twisted.
Katie: Miss you, too. <3
Katie: You having plenty of fun for both of us?
Amber: More than enough. ;) I'll tell you all about it when we get home.
Amber: Sorry. Gotta go! Have fun not having fun! :P
