But it would. And he still wasn't convinced he'd done enough to prove to her he was worth sticking around for.

After a couple calming breaths—in through the nose, out through the mouth—Isaac made his way to the kitchen for their water.

Standing at the sink, filling their glasses, Isaac's gaze drifted upward to his carving on the wall. He'd felt so grown up then. In his first adult relationship.

Isaac scoffed. "Adult."

It had been foolish—childish—to fall in love with the first girl who showed interest.

His eyes drifted further, to the ceiling. At least Katie had been upfront about not wanting a relationship. And hadn't pretended to care for him just to get what she wanted.

A lump formed in his throat.

No. No. No.

Katie cared. She wouldn't have stuck around this long, put her project off this long if she didn't.

Isaac downed a glass of water. Refilled it.

He had to stop torturing himself. What they had going was too good to ruin with what-ifs.

On his way out of the kitchen with a glass in each hand, Isaac put his arm around the bowl of fruit on the island, tucked it to his ribs carrying it like a football back to his room.

"Oh, food." Katie hopped off the bed and took the bowl.

Isaac almost lost his grip on the water glasses when he saw she hadn't bothered putting her panties back on.

This woman though.

"Do you always have to one-up me?" He couldn't just let something like that go unnoticed.

Katie bent over further than necessary setting the bowl of fruit on the bedside table.

That ass though.

Katie peered over her shoulder. "I thought you said yours would be coming right off when you got back."

That ass. Those eyes…

Why did he still have glasses of water in his hands when he could have his hands full of those plump round cheeks?

Isaac set the glasses on the bookshelf then stripped the shorts he'd soaked through in the seconds he'd been back in Katie's presence.

"On second thought…" Katie's hand reached around his side taking one of the glasses. "I should probably rehydrate first."

"You tease."

A smile crinkled the corners of her eyes as she drank before flashing a wink.

"You know," she said setting the glass down again. "It's a good thing you brought the fruit."

"Oh? Why is that?"

"Because we're going to need plenty of fuel for everything I have planned."

A split second from scooping her up, throwing her on the bed and fucking her brains out, Isaac asked, "Would I be wrong to assume all those plans include me?"

Katie stepped forward. Her landing strip tickling his thigh, she wrapped her hand around his shaft. "You'd be wrong not to."
