"You'll need something for the headache too." The ibuprofen still sat on the bedside table from when she'd brought it to him.

Handing them to her, Isaac chuckled at the role reversal. Her sick in bed and him administering the care. He'd always preferred being the caregiver over being the patient. Though, if his care had always come from Katie, he'd have preferred that too.

The other glass of water Isaac had brought up earlier still sat untouched on the bookshelf. He retrieved it and handed it to Katie. Her face turned a sickly shade of green. "Hold off if you think you might vomit."

Katie's face contorted before she covered it with both hands. "Holy shit, this is embarrassing."

"I'm a frat boy, it's nothing I haven't seen before." Isaac handed her the empty plastic trashcan from beside his bed.

"Yeah, but you didn't have any intention of having sex with any of them… I'm assuming."

"You assume correctly but it wouldn't have deterred me. And it won't with you either. I promise."

"Good thing, because…" she couldn't finish the sentence before her eyes shot open, her cheeks puffed out and she emptied her stomach into the trashcan.

Isaac reached over quick as he could when he saw it coming and swept her hair up holding it in his fist behind her head. "There you go." He shifted her hair to his other hand to better position himself to rub her back. "It'll all be over soon."

Katie groaned again when the heaving ended.

Isaac handed her a tissue. "Feel better?"

She wiped her lips and chin. "No, but also, yeah."

"Your color is better." Taking the trashcan, Isaac stood holding his hand out for her. "Come on. You can sit near the toilet, just in case, while I get this cleaned up."

Katie held his hand and stood next to him. "Actually, I think I'll take a shower."

"Sounds good. If you're not back before I'm done, do you want me to check in on you? In case you have another episode?"

"Thanks but I think it's over now. I feel a lot better."

"Shout if you need me."

Chapter 32

Katie had never been so mortified but Isaac couldn't have been sweeter or more understanding and supportive. Which was why it didn't surprise her to find him waiting up for her when she got back to the room.

He sat on the edge of the over-size footstool. Hunched over with his forearms resting on his thighs and his hands folded. When she walked in he all but catapulted to his feet. "You okay?"

"The shower helped a lot."

Katie turned to the bed ready to climb in and never come out. She felt like shit. She probably looked like it too. All she wanted was to hide under the covers that Isaac had changed while she showered.

Oh, no. Had she puked on his blanket?

Katie's shoulders sunk.

"I figured since we'd both been sick in those sheets it would be a good idea to change them." Isaac reached around her and pulled the covers down.

"I didn't… make a mess did I?"

He shook his head placing one hand on the small of her back. Katie took the hint and climbed onto his side of the bed. He pulled the covers up to her chest.

She assumed when he turned away he was going to sleep in the chair, too grossed out to sleep in the same bed with her. Instead, he walked around to the other side and crawled in next to her.

Sidled up close, laying on his side, he fished her hand out from under the blanket and put the back of her palm to his lips. "Goodnight, Blondie." He hugged her arm against his chest. His touch unwound the knot in her stomach.

"Making myself sick on marshmallows aside, this was a really good day—a good spring break. Thank you for that."
