The guilt tore at her insides. "Can you teach me?"

"What?"

"Teach me to knit."

"Shouldn't you get back to your project?"

"It's fine. I want to help."

Isaac took a handful of items out of the bag. "These are a few of my first attempts." He handed them to her.

Katie bit back a laugh. "These arenothats."

"They were supposed to be."

She turned the jagged-edged, lumpy chunks of fabric over in her hands.

"I'm not saying no. I'll teach you. But you need to know, it took me several months before my hats came even close to looking like something other than dog barf."

"Then, at least, show me." She scooted as close to the arm of the chair as she could and patted the cushion next to her.

"Are you sure you have the time?"

She patted the seat again. "Just for a bit."

Throwing a thumb over his shoulder, Isaac said, "I'm just going to grab that shower first. Don't want to get the hats all dirty."

Katie agreed and got back to work while Isaac took his clothes and left to clean up.

When he got back, Isaac sat in the chair with her. A bit of a squeeze at the shoulders, Katie shifted sideways crossing her legs over his.

"I've never done this in front of an audience before." Isaac pulled a tail of navy blue yarn from the bin along with the pair of knitting needles.

"Then how did you learn?"

"Internet."

"Impressive."

Isaac handed her the needles. "Hold these a second?"

She did while watching him fiddle with the yarn. "Walk me through it."

"Oh. Okay. Well, I tied a slipknot." He held up the loop. "And left a nice long tail for casting on."

"Say what, now?"

He chuckled. "I'll show you." He took one needle from her threading it through the slipknot. Then, with the needle in one hand and the yarn in the other, he somehow worked more yarn onto the stick.

"Witchcraft." Katie leaned forward to get a better look. "How the hell did you do that? Your hands moved but the way they moved didn't make any sense."

Isaac turned putting his back to her then scooted down so she could see over his shoulder. All things masculine crashed into her at once. The deep, earthy musk of his aftershave so thick wafting into her nose she could taste it. The corded muscles in his back shifting under his shirt against her chest. And all that manliness juxtaposed with the soft, delicate yarn wrapped in his fingers?

So fucking hot.

"So, you separate the tail end of the yarn from the skein end, see?" He showed her his hand. Two strands of yarn came off the needle in an acute angle. One string held between his index and middle finger, another strung over the back of his thumb and pinched in his fist. "To cast on, you just…" he twisted the needle dipping the pointed tip under his thumb before coming up and grabbing the other strand caught in his fingers to form a new loop on the needle. “That’s how you cast on."

"Yeah. Like I said. Witchcraft." No way could she have commented further. She'd been far too distracted by his body against her to comprehend anything he'd done.
