Riley barks, “put me down.”

“Don’t worry, I will.”

In the bedroom, I flip her off my shoulder flopping her onto the bed. She bounces squealing gleefully as she goes. And it gets me so fucking hard.

When her body settles, so do her half-lidded eyes, on me. Begging me to take her.

“Do you have any idea what you do to me, baby girl?”

“I have an idea,” she says, gently tracing the inside of my thigh with her toe, increasing the pressure when she reaches the swelling member between my hips.

“Naughty girl.” My words come out as more of a growl as I hold her foot more firmly and grind against it.

“Are you going to punish me?” She taunts biting her bottom lip.

“Thoroughly.”

RILEY

After Daniel heads down to the shop the next morning, I sit in bed, propped up on pillows with my phone in hand staring at my sister’s number.

Things went so well meeting Nell and Julia, I wonder if my luck will continue with Lainey. But Lainey isn’t a big fan of Daniel already. Or rather the twenty-year age gap between us.

There isn’t any point putting it off. I got the go-ahead from Daniel and they’re going to meet each other eventually.

I hit the call button.

I just have to hope that when Lainey meets him—sees for herself how amazing he is—she’ll come around.

“Hey, Sis,” I say when she answers. “When can you come for another visit?”

DANIEL

When I told Riley to invite her sister over, I honestly thought I was ready to meet her.

Wrong.

And Lainey doesn’t seem in any mood to meet me.

At least she isn’t openly protesting or lecturing or dragging Riley out of the apartment. Though, I wouldn’t have put any of those things past her. The entire time she’s been here, I haven’t seen her smile once. It’s making me so anxious, I’m about to pull out the ice cream for smiles deal. Anything to break through the obsidian wall Lainey put up just for me.

“This isn’t going well, is it?” Riley whispers as we stand over the sink half-assedly doing the dishes.

“I don’t think I’m winning any popularity contests with her tonight.”

“Should I ask her to leave?” Riley grits her teeth.

“No. The last thing I want is for her to think I had you get rid of her.”

There’s a ding on the other side of the room. I peek over my shoulder. As does Riley to find Lainey checking her phone.

“Oh, thank God,” Lainey sighs at the screen.

“Riley, let’s go. Spencer, Will, and Jax are going to meet us at the hill.”
