“Let’s go to the doctor’s office to get me checked out.”
Why not? He promised he would never admit her to a mental asylum. To Isabella, there was absolutely no reason not to trust him. The doctor would check her out and who knows, might even have some answers to this cryptic puzzle. In the farthest reaches of her mind there was still a chance that she was hallucinating. But Liam did not react the way she had thought he would. Instead of enthusiastically starting the car, he just kept staring out the window.
“No,” he said as he finally started the car. Isabella couldn’t be more confused.
“No?” she asked carefully.
“Not yet. There’s somewhere I want to go first,” he said determined, backing up the car out of its parking spot.
“I’m afraid I don’t understand.” Isabella was now the one lost for words. “Where are we going?”
Liam’s voice was uncertain while his gaze fumbled toward her, searching for something, before narrowing his eyes back on the road. His jaw was set as he decisively steered the car across the road before finally speaking out his mind. “We are going back to 5thstreet, the street where we first met.”
