No.There will be no feelings for Connor Diamond.

It was the last time fucking, that’s all.

I opened my eyes to find him staring, curiosity etched on his thick brow.

“You okay?” he asked.

“Couldn’t be better. You?”

He grinned. “Amazing.”

Slipping off him, I climbed out of bed and headed toward the bathroom to clean up. Halfway there, I turned around to find him close behind me.

“I’m going to miss that view.”

“Yes, you are.” I grinned, turning on the shower lever to hot.

“Just not yet,” he said, siding up behind me, his hard dick pressing against my back.

“You’re insatiable, Connor.”

“Tell me you don’t love it.”

“I can’t do that. You’re the best lover I’ve ever had.”

“Hands down,” he agreed.

And we both paused, staring, as steam billowed around us.

He opened his mouth to speak, but I beat him to it. “Well, I’m sure Francesca will fill that void pretty quickly.”

He frowned but said nothing. The well of thickness lined my throat again. But what did I expect him to say?Was he going to leave her for me? And that’s not what I wanted, was it?

I shook away the thought and slid under the stream of water, letting the steaming water wash away my confusion.

He picked up the loofah and lathered the soap in it. As he slid the loofah across my shoulders and collarbone, down to the sides of my breast, I closed my eyes. He passed the loofah over my nipples, the coarse feeling causing me to suck in a lungful of air.

“Until then… you’re mine, Pepper Little.”

“I’m yours,” I moaned out on a whimper.

There wasn’t anything really to say. I was fumbling, not wanting to leave the hotel room. It seemed Connor was hanging back too. But there was no way around tomorrow, his engagement, or rise to take over the Diamond empire.

I’d lost count of how many times we’d fucked over the course of the night and morning. For him to leave this room meant he would have to commit to his new life starting tomorrow, and for me to walk out the door meant never touching Connor again. Or enjoying his conversation, I had begun to look forward to.

We’d always got along over the years, but he never really paid me much attention being eight years older. When I’d grown into a woman, he noticed me but never strayed over the line until now.

Perhaps it was Lourde and Barrett who helped him cross the line. Maybe not.

“How are you feeling about the press conference tomorrow?” I asked, playing with the straps on my purse.

“Fine. I can smooth over investors’ fears with my charm.”

“Oh, I bet you can,” I said, knowing when it came to the Diamond empire, he was all business.

“What does that mean?” He arched an eyebrow.
