Pulling into the parking lot, I shut the engine off. She tries to open her door, but I grip her chin tight in my palm and pull her into a hard kiss. She whimpers but opens for me. I tangle my tongue with hers and wait til she moans before pulling back.

“Tease,” she whines, and I laugh, then climb out and open her door for her.

When we reach the lobby, she signs in, and I take a seat. There are photos on the walls of pregnant women, children, and babies. Cat takes the seat beside me, and I hold her hand. She leans her head on my shoulder, and I wrap my arm around her tight.

“Cat Baker,” a nurse calls, and Cat sighs. I stand, helping her up, then walk with her to the door. The nurse stops me with a smile and tells me to wait. I grumble but listen.

I grab a magazine and settle in to wait. Cat comes back ten minutes later, red faced and pissed off. I quickly stand and move in the middle to meet her. She doesn’t say a word, just pulls my hand over to the hall she exited.

We enter an exam room, and there is an ultrasound machine beside a bed, with a gown and towel on the end. Cat starts to strip with jerky, angry motions.

“You good, Kitty?” I can’t help but ask, but she turns her pissed off stare to me and continues putting that gown on.

I take a seat beside her and try to hide my smile. I know why we are here and what it means, and I couldn’t be happier right now. My kitty is having a kitten.

The doctor movesthe wand over Cat’s flat belly, and I watch in amazement. It’s tiny, but it’s there. The little baby, our little baby on the screen has my heart about to burst. I did it. I made that. Tears fill my eyes, and I’m not ashamed to let them fall. I glance down at my kitty, but she looks like she’s going to be sick. All the color has left her face, and she won’t look at me.

“Well, Cat, it seems as though you are about sixteen weeks, and everything looks great. Congratulations. I will give you a few minutes to process and change. Meet me in my office when you are done.” She gets off of her stool and leaves.

“A baby, wow. I know this is fast, but we talked about getting married and having kids,” I tell her with a giant grin on my face. I bend down to kiss her, but she still won’t acknowledge me. Why isn’t she happy right now? She blinks, looking at me with horror.

“We can’t keep this baby, Rex,” she whispers, shaking her head before tears start to fall down her face. “There is no way.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” I growl, pissed off at her even suggesting we won’t be keeping our child, my child. She stands from the table and wipes her stomach of the gel, then gets dressed. I watch her amazed that she’s not happy.

She doesn’t talk to me and walks out. I follow behind her, clenching my fists, fighting not to grab her right now and shake her. She stomps into the office, and I take a seat. The doctor sighs and drops her glasses onto a file on her desk.

“Okay I am going to be blunt here. Based off your reaction, Cat, I’m assuming this isn’t something you want.” Cat shakes her head, and I am about to start smashing shit. I take a deep breath in and grip my hair. My nostrils flare, and the doctor gives me a worried look.

“I get it. You guys are still young. There are options here. You could terminate, it would be a late termination, but it is possible. Or you could always adopt. There are so many families unfortunate not to experience the miracle you have.”

I can’t listen to this shit anymore. I stand from my chair, throw the pamphlets the doctor is trying to hand Cat in her face and storm out.

Immature, definitely, but I don’t fucking care. I am livid, and I’m on the verge of killing everyone in this place.

I leave the office and go out to my car. Cat follows me a few minutes later with a prescription for some prenatals. She climbs in but doesn’t say a word to me. I drop her off at home and go to Nick’s house. He opens the door with a joint in his mouth, and I rip it out and take a puff.

“Good to see you too,” he snorts, and I roll my eyes. We walk down into his den, and the whole crew is here. Minus Ronnie, her ass is rotting in a cement grave. Bitch should have listened.

“Look what the cat dragged in,” Nick jokes, and I flinch at the word cat. I plop down on the couch next to Adam and take the offered beer. I down it and grab the one from Kelly’s hand, drinking that too. She scoffs.

“Trouble in paradise,” she sneers. I grip her by her hair and pull her into my face. She gulps, and Adam laughs.

“Want to try that again?” I growl, and she starts to shake.

“No…no, Rex. I’m sorry.” I let her go, and she takes off to the bathroom. I groan and take another puff of the joint.

“Not to set you off, bro, but you want to tell us what’s going on? Not that I mind you putting Kelly in her place, but she didn’t do much.” Nick sits in Kelly’s empty spot, and I give in.

“Cat is pregnant, and she doesn’t want it. I love that girl with everything, and I already love my kid. For her to even consider,” I trail off, and Adam grips my shoulder in comfort.

“Damn, man, that’s rough. Maybe she was just in shock. Cat’s a cool chick and worships the ground you walk on. I can’t see her not keeping your baby.” I listen to what he’s saying and find myself agreeing.

That has to be it. She’s just scared. Fuck, I’m an idiot. I jump from the couch and walk towards the door. Nick laughs and calls me a moron, and I can’t agree more.

I arrive at her house past bedtime, but her light is on. I climb up to her window and knock. She answers in a tight nightgown, and I groan at the sight of her breasts spilling out. She looks at where my attention is and rolls her eyes.
