The midday sunwas warm and bright, beating down on Math as he glared at the puddles in the yard from the overnight rain. Today was shot for farming; the fields were too wet to do anything. He could only watch the puddles dry and hope it didn’t rain again.

It had been just over a week since he had slid that white dress over Tess’s head with her sex-mussed hair. Over a week since he had touched her, kissed her, and he wanted to do it again. Over a week was turning into too long to touch her again. He didn’t think he could go months this time.

He knew she was back in town yesterday because her car was parked on the street when he had dropped the kids off at school that morning. He had shaken his head at the bank president’s little old Chevrolet. It didn’t fit her position in town, but it really seemed to fit her personality perfectly.

So far, he hadn’t seen her, not that he went out of his way to see her. He knew she was at the bank, but he hadn’t found an excuse to go in there to see if her trip went okay. He didn’t want it to look like he was just going into the bank to see her.

Who would have thought there were two Easters? He had read up on her religion, and he almost asked the pastor about it on Sunday after services since he’d seemed to know about it when talking to Tess the weekend before. But he kept his mouth shut; he wasn’t that interested.

Kicking a rock, he tried to get her out of his mind. Really it had been less than two weeks, but his mind wouldn’t let go of the memory of her naked body. Naked and arguing with him, then making love to him. He couldn’t get her out of his mind.

His cell phone rang in his pocket, causing him to stop. Pulling it out he didn’t recognize the phone number on the display; it wasn’t local. He answered it anyway, maybe something about the kids. “Math Nordskov.”

“Mathias, it is Tess Thorn at Landstad Bank,” the woman said as if she had to say anything beyond her name for him to know who it was.

“Hello, Tess.” He couldn’t stop a smile from spreading across his lips.

“I got your number from Mandy. I hope you don’t mind.”

“That was fine.”

“I was wondering if you would be interested in having supper with me one evening this week.” Her slow cadence was even slower than it usually was. Was she nervous?

“Are you asking me out on a date, Thorn?” he asked with a smile. He could see her gray eyes closing.

“No!” she said quickly, and his phone went dead. She had hung up on him.

Looking at his phone, he laughed at the idea she had been so nervous that she hung up. So, he called the number back. He was surprised when she actually answered, though she was as formal as before. “Tess, it’s Math Nordskov from my farm.”

“Hello, Mathias. What can I do for you?” she said as if they hadn’t just been on the phone, and she hadn’t just asked him out and hung up on him.

“Hello, Tess. I got your number from when you just called me.” He mirrored her earlier call, and he loved that it made her chuckle.

“I guess I deserve that.” She sighed into her phone, into his ear, and the sound went straight to his dick.

“Yes, I would like to go out with you.”

“When?”

“Are you at work?”

“Yes,” she answered hesitantly.

“Can you get away early?” He had nothing else to do.

“I can, but give me an hour. Do you want me to pick you up?” she asked. He could tell she was moving papers around on her desk.

“No, I will not ride in that rust bucket you drive.” His mind went to the red car. “I expected the bank’s president to drive something a bit fancier.”

“Sheisfancy. She has a CD and a tape player.” She chuckled into the phone, and he loved the sound.

“She’s a stick shift.” He remembered from the day she had worked on his farm.

“I know, she is a sports car.” There was a smile in her voice.

“Teenagers drive better cars.”

“Only the lucky ones. It is a great car. I bought it new,” she said as she continued to move papers.
