“No wonder you’re always analyzing my feelings in addition to my level of pain.”

Suddenly serious, he squeezed her hand. “I want to make sure I never hurt you, my love. Hey Dalia, would you like to see my apartment?”

“Why you have a newapa’tment? We said you stay here.” She flunked her fists at her sides.

“So logical. This girl is going to be a lawyer. Sweetie-pie, I rented it beforeyoudecided I should stay with you.”

“Now you return it.”

“Your mommy and I came up with a better idea. We’re going to remodel your house and during that time we all stay at my new apartment.”

“All together?”

“Yes.”

“Can I bring my teddies and dolls?”

“All of them, and even the other toys.”

“Let’s go look at your newapa’tmen. If I don’t like it we all staying here.”

Sienna and Tyler exchanged a look and chuckled. “She reminds me of Audrey, as assertive.”

“In that case you shouldn’t spoil her.”

He pulled Dalia in his arms and hugged. “But she’s my sweet little girl and I love her, right, sweetie-pie?”

“Right, doc. I love you too.” Her radiant smile could have melted an iceberg and granted her Tyler’s heart on a silver platter.

“See, that my girl.” He set her on the floor a kiss on the forehead. “You two get ready while I clear the kitchen. By the way, it’s freezing outside. Dress warmly.”

“Can I bring a teddy?”

“As many as you want, pumpkin.”

Dang! The serious cardiologist was putty in the hands of a three-year-old master at manipulation—a goner. If he kept spoiling her rotten, things might not work. But Dalia needed a father’s figure, and her mother couldn’t live anymore without this loving man at her side.

An hour later, Dalia declared that sheloved her big bedroom, but where was doc gonna sleep?

“She’s already exiled you out of the only room with doors,” Sienna declared after taking a tour of the place.

Defeated by the lack of doors, Tyler groaned, “No doors... No doors. Why couldn’t they put more doors? Where’s their concept of privacy?” This place wouldn’t work, even for one day, or rather one night. Now that Sienna had welcomed him to her bed, how could he organize their new life when a curious, assertive little girl could barge into a room anytime?

“I’m going downstairs to talk to the manager. Maybe he can help?”

“How? Do you expect him to build doors between the kitchen and the huge living room?”

But Tyler was already running the five floors down the stairs to the lobby. For his luck, the manager saw him and strutted toward him. “”Morning, Dr. Kent. Enjoying your new place.”

“How I wish, but there’s a small problem. I was supposed to live here on my own, but now my girlfriend and her little daughter love the place.”

“That’s great, but it’s too small for three people.”

“My opinion, exactly.”

“You should have rented the two-bedroom I showed you at first. The one on the tenth-floor. It has a better view and is much bigger.”
