Kasem never called, probably overwhelmed on his first day at work. Pleased to have the freedom of his condo for the day, Royce returned to his laptop and concentrated on solving his clients’ problems.
At four o’clock, he texted Susan again.
Work day over?
The same response came.

By six o’clock, he called her. No one answered. He texted, and received a laconic,too busy.
By eight o’clock, Kasem hadn’t returned, and Susan hadn’t answered his calls.
It had been a busy day for everyone. In a sour mood, Royce sat at his laptop ready for a long night.
