I shrug. “Probably because bringing up one omega daughter was hard enough. Delilah came first and she got all the love and attention. I must’ve been an unwelcome accident in my parent’s life.”
Pain lances through me. I should be over my parent’s betrayal by now but it still hurts to think they never loved me.
“When Damon brought me here, I stopped taking the medication,” I continue despite the painful choke in my throat. “My body started changing and I went into pre-awakening. My hormones went so crazy, that I nearly died from the cramps.”
“Was it that serious?”
I nod. “I didn’t want you to know. Hell! I didn’t even know how to face it myself. I asked Dr. Lawson to make it stop,” I say in a broken voice. “She said I couldn’t take any more suppressants. They’d react with my emerging hormones and could kill me. I have to let my body go through its natural changes.”
“You’ve awakened, Iris,” Julian says in a low, serious tone. “There’s no doubt about it.”
“Shit!”
“It won’t be long before you go through your first heat.” Julian closes the distance between us and takes my hand in his. “Don’t be scared. I’m here for you.”
“Aren’t you mad I didn’t tell you sooner?”
“You weren’t ready.”
My head whips up to stare at him.
Anxiety is etched on his beautiful face. He’s not mad. He’s just worried about me.
“Everything is such a mess.”
“That’s not true.”
“It’s not? What’s going to happen if I suddenly go into heat? Caleb and the others won’t be able to hold themselves back when that happens. Can you bear for them to touch me?”
“I don’t know about Caleb and Raiden, but Damon and I’ll get you through your first heat.”
Confusion flickers through me. “You and Damon?”
“We’re your mates.” His eyes suddenly shimmer with an intense emotion I’d never seen in him before. “You’re our mate, Iris.”
I blink, unable to make sense of anything.
“We knew the moment your perfume hit us,” Julian says, tightening his hold on my hand. “You’re ours.”
Moving closer, he wraps his hand around the back of my neck in a gentle hold. “Wildflower...Iris...” he moans, closing his eyes. Leaning in, he captures my lips in a kiss.
He’s gentle at first, his lips moving against mine.
The moment he feels me kissing back, his emotions intensify. He slips his tongue through my parted lips, tasting me deeply. Little groans escape him as he kisses me thoroughly.
My heart throbs. My pussy throbs harder.
There’s an animal inside me that wants to tear off Julian’s clothes to touch his bare skin. The need is so intense, I have to push him off, just to cool the unbearable heat that’s pounding through me.
A dark look descends into Julian’s violet eyes. “You feel it too, don’t you?” he asks in a raspy voice. “You want me. The need must be driving you crazy.”
“Yes!” I shout. “It’s getting worse every day.”
“Stop fighting it.”
“How?” I ask. “This is too complicated. You belong to them.”
He shakes his head. “Just wait till Caleb and Raiden come home. It doesn’t matter whether you’re fated to be with them as you’re with me and Damon. One hit of your perfume and they’ll be driven mad too.”
