“I’ve never felt this way about any omega,” Caleb says in a strained voice. “Her scent is so distinct, it’s been branded in my memory.”

Raiden’s gaze meets mine. “All those times that I’ve been so close to you and yet, so unaware.”

Damon stomps forward, steadily moving toward the massive couch. He sits down and before I can scramble away, he pulls me on his lap.

His brothers aren’t far away. They come to sit on his either side, refusing to take their eyes off me.

Awkwardness comes over me. I’ve never been the center of so much alpha attention before. Hell! I’ve never had so many people, alphas or betas, fawn over me this way.

Every omega garners such attention from the time they’re born. Growing up with Delilah, I experienced it firsthand. If only I could fathom the reason behind my parent’s bias...

“I’ll get some medicine,” Julian says, pulling me out of my thoughts. He kneels before the couch and spreads his hand over my forehead. His beautiful features distort with concern. “I’ll get a wet cloth to wipe you down as well.”

“She needs to eat something first,” Caleb says in a grim tone.

“I don’t think I can eat anything,” I say as my stomach churns sickeningly.

“You should eat a little, kitty,” Damon croons in my ear. A pleasurable shiver runs through me at the sound.

Julian is gone before I can call him back.

“Does it hurt anywhere?” Raiden asks.

“Mmm,” I moan. “My whole body aches. It wasn’t like this when I woke up this morning. That stupid nightmare is the reason I’m sick.”

“What stupid nightmare?” Caleb asks gently.

“I saw the face of the man who got killed right in front of me,” I say as my mind replays the scene before my eyes once again. “Even thinking about it makes me relive it.”

“You’re suffering from trauma,” Damon says in a deep, grim voice.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t get to you sooner,” Raiden says in a pained voice. “It was so chaotic during the shooting. Too many people running in every direction they could.”

“But, you came,” I say, remembering how they appeared to rescue me from Callahan’s clutches.

“We were too late,” Caleb says in a somber voice. His face is drawn and a dark shadow covers his jaws and chin. A storm rages behind those silvery eyes of his. “I’m sorry I failed to protect you.”

The pain in his voice touches a deep chord within me. He’s suffering from guilt and hopelessness because of me. I hate being the reason behind him feeling this way.

“You guys weren’t at fault,” I say. “You couldn’t have known the attack was about to happen.”

“It was our job to know,” Caleb says. “I was responsible for securing the mansion. I was responsible for every person’s safety last night. I failed in my duty.”

Before I can soothe his worries, Julian comes back to the room with a massive tray in his hands. Placing the tray on the coffee table, he kneels beside me. “I’ll make you feel better,” he promises.

Taking a basin of water from the tray, he places it on the ground.

“This will cool you down,” he says, dipping a towel in the water and wringing it out. He folds the cloth into a long strip and places it on my forehead.

A moan escapes me at the feel of the cold, wet cloth.

“Extend your legs,” Raiden says, gently gripping my ankles.

I obey, wondering what he’s up to.

Next second, I feel his long, thick fingers massaging my calves.

“You don’t have to do that,” I say, pulling my legs away.
